Guest guest
Donna, Welcome to the group. At 29 you have a lot of time to go yet. As to your comment on the toes, one of the weird dyskinesias I have is involuntary movement of my toe, usually the big toe. Actually, it has progressed to the point that my foot moves. Sure you will find out a lot about RLS with the group. Jo from Mo (a warm 55 today, no snow)
Guest guest
Oh, Nikki, I know how you feel. I once fell UPstairs, dislocated two toes, and spent a week with my foot elevated above my heart. Not a pretty picture, believe me. LOL Hope it feels better soon. Hugs, MM
Guest guest
Most days I can hardly move them up or down, and I can't spread them apart. In fact, the 2nd & 3rd toes look like they are glued together. My doctors have said that it's just part of the neuropathy, but I don't think they really know. They had that bluffing look. i WAS HAVING THAT PROBLEM WITH MY HANDS AND THUMBS-- BUT literally within minutes of the 1st Remicade infusion-- and my thumbs were able to be moved, and are now functioning again. Guest guest
Oh wow that's amazing. Is Remicade a maintenance drug? Did it help with your walking? That's my biggest problem. Well, next to the abby brain it is. grannylunatic@... __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Is Remicade a maintenance drug? Did it help with your walking? That's my biggest problem. Remicade is a maintainence drug. It's one of the new BRM's. It works by blocking the production of TNF-a and TNF-b. These are the bloodcells that make tumors. It's for life, every 6 weeks, and is by IV infusion. You have to be on an additional immunosuppresant so you don't build anti-bodies against the Remicade, so I take it with Methotrexate and Plaquenil. As far as my ability to walk-- it has helped with my endurance, and I'm off my oxygen most days. I still have to have it at night, but it's helped my lungs work more effectively. I'm still having problems with balance, but I think that's more from the neuropathy damage to the part of my brain that handles that. Check out the WWW.ARTHRITIS.ORG for more info on BRM's and Remicade. Tracie
