Guest guest
Well, I finally got in to pediatrics at our hospital, I had to wait till my husband in processed and everything before I could do that which took weeks, then the first avaiable appointment that they had was two weeks away, then they put the referrals in which took from Thursday to Monday to clear the hospital and so then I tried to make the sweat test appointment at UNC. Well, I finally got that done (their computers were down till late yesterday) and their next available isn't till May 28th! Normally I would be like, ok I don't like it but that's when it is but right now I'm just more upset over the long delay because we sat in Germany for months not knowing and not being able to do anything, waiting to get back stateside for the testing and everything and now we finally get back and she can't get in till the 28th! The peds. doctor decided not to hospilize her for everything all at once and I'm kinda glad because right now we don't have the money for more hotel fees plus my oldest is enrolled in school here now but of course that means a lot of separate trips to UNC. She has to have the sweat test done there, see their neurologist to get started on her anti-convolsants for her epilepsy and gastroenstestinal, I want to discuss placing a g-tube with them, I have to make those appointments today. And I am thinking there is another referral or two out there for her. It's so hard to keep up with all the doctors she has to see since she has multiple diagnoses. Has anyone on this list had the sweat test at UNC? I am trying to contact them to find out some stuff but no luck yet. I understand that it takes 2 positive sweat test for a diagnoses, do they do both on the same day like placing two collections devices at the same time or what? And how long did it take them to tell you the results? I don't want to go down there on the 28th and have the test ran just to have to come back at their next available a month later for a second test or whatever. Especially if they don't get enough sweat or something. Should I call the ped that made the referral and tell him how long it's going to take to get her in and maybe hospilize her so it can get done faster? That's what they did in Germany of course there it turned out to be a waste of time and money but anyways... If it's going to take that long to get her in for the sweat test I can only imagine that it will take just as long to get her in to all the other clinics there and she really needs her epilepsy medication started soon. Any thoughts? On the brighter side of things, today is my oldest, Chasity's b-day. She turned 7 today. When she leaves for school I need to get everything set up, dig out the presents and start on the cake. Let me know what you guys think. Guest guest
Karrie, I really hate it that you are having such a time getting everything together for the sweat testing to be done. Maybe everything will speed up soon. And a big Happy Birthday to the big girl Chasity! Keep in touch and let us know whatever is happening. Our hearts are with you thru every step of the way.
