Applegate FArms salami.

I have a case of turkey hotdogs from Applegate farms in my freezer and the

ingredients are as follows:

Turkey,water,salt,spices,paprika,fresh garlic & onion.

Adding the sugar to their hotdogs must be recent. Maybe they didn't add

it to their turkey hotdogs. I will check further into this.

Pork, Sea salt, dextrose,spices,wine,lactic acid starter culture & garlic

This salami is mild.

I thought dextrose and lactic acid starter culture were illegal. Am I

wrong. I've said no to salami and pepperoni when my son has yearned for

them.

My understanding is that this is a new ingredient (the 2 go together as

the dextrose feeds the starter) they've added after complaints about

shelf life from their vendors.

The regular iodized table salt I use has dextrose…does that mean it's illegal?
