Guest guest
Ladies-- Thanks for replying to my e-mail. (7 1/2) is an extremely picky eater. I did not read the intro diet prior to starting, but followed the BTVC guidelines, without the dairy. We do give him butter, as it has no casein (all fat=no protein), so I've made some of the baked goods with butter from the site. He eats carrots, apples, bananas (with the guidelines from BTVC regarding the spotting/no green), eggs, apple juice (which is all juice--organic/wild oats brand) cut with water, the nut flours (which I make from nuts with a food processor), honey, baking soda, peanut butter (no sugar added)--I make the bread for him that's on the pecanbread website, meats (with no additives), and the ketcup made from BTVC. All his supplements are legal, except one. We give it to him for constipation--and yes, he did have extreme constipation prior to starting--well, I should say prior to November, when we starting giving him this supplement--he's been hospitalized multiple times for clean-outs. The supplement is a capsule--he takes two capsules per night--and it contains cape aloe leaf. When we started the diet, he did poop more, so we went down to one capsule. He was still pooping more, and fearing an accident at school, we skipped the supplement all together--for two days. That's when the constipation hit, and along with it, the behaviors. He was in " trouble " at school yesterday for the first time in weeks (exactly coiciding with the start of the diet, then the constipation problem). He does not rage, he's very, very hyper. I'm probably rambling here...the thing about this kid is that he has had surgery done on his anus, when he was a baby. The anus is displaced too far forward, and this adds to the constipation problem. This supplement was a God-send. And yes, talking to me about God is very appropriate--I seek God's wisdom for myself and my son daily. Due to long term food problems/allergies that are medically well-documented, the school/church/everybody else does exactly what I ask regarding his diet. They all know that he only eats food I provide, and himself has agreed to this whole thing in hopes of his stomach getting better. (He is very " high functioning " --though I normally don't use that term) I know in my mother's heart that the vast majority of his problems are tied to his stomach--I'm probably just need encouragement more than anything else at this point. :-) Thanks for the feedback--I greatly, greatly appreciate it. >From: moeller124 no_reply > >Reply-To: pecanbread >To: pecanbread >Subject: Re: newbie here >Date: Tue, 07 Feb 2006 16:03:56 -0000 > >We have been on SCD for a little over 3 wks now. Guest guest
, I believe with all my heart that God leads us when we seek Him and I believe that this diet has been a major leading of Him for us. The difference that we have seen in our son is awesome. We still have a ways to go but it is like it gets better every day. We have completely taken him off the supplement that we were adviced to do so from this group. Actually they didn't advice us to take him off, they just presented information about the possibility of this making him rage. I surely don't have knowledge concerning the one sup. that isn't SCD but there are others here that can provide information concerning this. As his parent you then have to make the decission as to what is best for your child. Possibly there would even be an alternative to this sup. I sure do understand the need for the encouragement. Many days when I am at a loss as to what to fix for my family that isn't the same old I think, 'Subway sure would be easy.' I have to constantly remind myself of the end result that we are working for. Be encouraged that your labors for your child will be well paid as time goes on. Be blessed Sandy M. Whole family SCD 3 weeks in support of 5 yr old son who rages. (Not nearly as often nor as long) It just keeps getting better. > > > > > > > > > > > > Hi, I am new to this group.
