Looked like Gulden's mustard (effectively put me off THAT condiment for a while, lol). For my son, this meant low bile - read that " liver stress " . Stopped totally a week into SCD (with a LOT of restrictions and Milk Thistle - not a 'legal' but it is currently working for us). You are doing quite a lot in regards to helping scour his system; do you ever take a break or rotate the natural killers? Of course, it could be something as benign as a lot of carrot, squash or gourds in the diet...lot of those around the kitchen this time of year... Guest guest
Hi Emma, > > > > weve only just started the antifungals so i was going to do them as is for a month and then rotate every 2 weeks Are you seeing a doc/naturopath/more exp'd person that suggested this? Or is it your own research exp with your little ones? Please keep in mind I am not telling you what you should or should not do for your child, just wondering where your info is coming from. > > i did try milk thistle from kirkmans - but it made his symptoms much worse, his stimming etc dramatically increased - tried it a while ago > I don't know if Kirkmans is SCD legal. I'm pretty sure the one we use (Solaray) isn't, but it works for Glenn, so we're stickin' with it for now. If we omit a couple of days, his stool gets lighter and he seems a bit more disconnected. Nothing too obvious... Milk thistle, or its active ingrediants (silymarin, silybin, silychristen etc) are what is given when there has been an acetominiphen (glutathione reducer) overdose. Even in " standard medical " world, lol. > is there any other way i can help him support his liver? If you are not already, you could do the organic thing as much as possible (not just food, but " green " household products as well). Basically, your liver is 'the big gun' for clearing your system of whatever crud you eat, breathe or touch. It would seem that reducing the load it bears, especially in an impaired system, would be proactive (not an SCD-thing, just a 'makes sense' thing). Makes a HUGE difference to my son. Not every child is as sensative as he seems to be, though. we eat lots of carrots and squash anyway and that didnt affect him so it must be his liver, Or die off, or an growing intolerance to something previously tolerated, or he could just have a bug - these guys are complex. Just becasue my son had the same symptoms with the yellow poop as your little one doesn't mean the root causes are the same. You know? >is there anything else i can do to encourage bile output > One of the biggies here is making sure he gets adequate fats with meals/ snacks. Consumption of fat usually kick starts bile production when eating. At home, I put oils on his veggies, and at school I send them in with a bone broth ice cube; that way when the staff warms up his lunch, the broth soaks into the veggies. I also NEVER trim fats from meats - I make sure the meats are cooked with the fat and basted well. That could be a problem if you have a kid who does not digest fats well ( " floaties " in the loo - sorry, TMI). > thank you > emma > Hmm - don't know if I was a lot of help, sorry...I can only say what worked in our house, you know? I have not done this myself yet, but i do know there are liver enzyme tests that can be run, and if the enz are elevated past a certain point, that can indicate trouble. Don't know any more than that, unfortunately. I can ask the friend who had it done for more info if it would help you? Hope little one feels better - how is the behavior? (usually a gold standard of trouble in our house, lol). -christine
Guest guest
Hi Emma, > im treating kai with the following (yeast and bacteria) > > ole, carprylic acid, GSE, candex, coconut oil high dose zinc Are you using Candex along with an antifungal every day or doing all of these everyday. I think(?) that andrew wrote that you shouldn't do them everyday. MAybe it was because it would put to much stress on the body - dumping out all the microbes and their byproducts. Taking the enzyme and antifungal will increase the antiyeast action. I found it pretty intense using both and antifungal and the enzyme, so I don't do that every day. What is " ole " ? Isn't that what you say to bulls? > was using ooo but he has got quite black around the eyes and started developing a slight tic so im wondering if its the phenols so have pulled it to see if his eyes settle The Oil of Oregano (ooo) is supposed to be very strong -- I haven't tried it yet - so it may be the antifungal effect or phenol or both. > what im a little concerned over is that his bms have gone very yellow > initially i assumed this was yeast but now i am concerned that it may be something else?? > the stools arent stringy like yeast, itsjust this very bright yellow colour > > he doesnt take any meds that could change the colour and they werent this colour before he started the natural anti-fungals > > does anyone know why the colour has changed like it has?
