Guest guest
No, I don't have the actual reference to Elaine saying to wait 1 year SCD prior to starting chelation therapy(correct me if I am wrong) lol I have read it a couple times on this list though. I have also read here that SCD detoxifies over time. But unlike chelation therapy, it does not mobilize a massive amount of metals at once. In my book, that means that SCD is an extremely SAFE way to chelate. But for those that are doing additional chelation therapies, waiting a year after starting SCD would be recommended. There is no point taking a chelation agent that pulls the metals into the bloodstream, just to have them enter back into the bloodstream through a holey intestine. However, all of her comments on chelation and healing the intestine say the same thing, in so many words. The metals are absorbed in the first place, a big part of it, is the eroded intestine. To mobilize metals before the intestine has had a chance at some healing sounds risky, imo. 1 year before adding foods back, maybe I had that confused, but I think the 1 year rule applies to her description about detoxification mechanisms as well. Just to be clear, also.... I am not advocating the use of chelation therapy. I just know alot of mums here are using chelation therapy, they are being recommended by so many of the DAN doctors, and in my opinion, it is better to go wading into that pool slowly then dumping all the metals as quick as possible. All areas need to be analyzed and worked on simultaneously. In my way of thinking, Elaine is excruciatingly right. However, the individual puzzle of what came first, the chicken or the egg has to be solved by each person. There are a number of ways to detoxify, and it is helpful to pick one after the body startes moving to a state of health, and one understands more of what affects them. If you have only been on SCD 1 week (at least at the time of this pecanbread post), you have plenty of time to think and research it. I believe (please correct me if I am wrong) Elaine recommended being on the diet for 1 year before attempting any detoxification procedures. I don't recall reading or hearing this but do know Elaine said not to take back restricted foods until one year AFTER all symptoms have disappeared. Do you have the actual refernce as I would like to read it? I also know a doctor in Kentucky dsicovered SCD detoxes as effectively as chelation. Detoxification starts during the die off period which can occur very soon for some and take longer for others. Carol F.
