Guest guest
Hi everyone! I just heard about this diet in detail at the DAN conference in Long Beach this weekend. My son is 8 - HFA - gluten/casein/egg/yeast/potato/rice/sesame/pineapple/tomato/mustard/ba nana/and cantaloupe FREE. OH and low sugar. This has been tough. We just had to take out the potato and rice because of him not improving. He seems to be going through withdrawal. At DAN they recommend that if your child keeps getting more food sensitivities then this is the time to go SCD. I have to say, this diet looks tough. I thought we have it pretty bad now. I need a kick in the butt to get this started. BUT I do have a few questions. 1. What is the intro diet and where can I find that info? 2. If your child is a " yeasty boy " do you also need to avoid fruits? 3. Does this prevent future food sensitivites? 4. Do I still need to keep away the tomatoes, bannanas, etc that are SCD legal if we are on this diet? Thanks for any info you have. This diet looks like a doozy but if you guys can do it, so can I. Also...is there anyone in the Inland Empire of California that is well versed on SCD? I'm looking for a speaker for our TACA mtg and this would be a great topic. Thanks Tami
Guest guest
I like that idea Marilyn. I actually found out about the rice and potato problems because I took him to a kinesthesiologist that does muscle testing. I thought corn was the problem, but it wasn't so. Do you know if there is a website that you can search for a NAET practitioner? I think we really need eggs back before we can start SCD. Eggs were +1 on is IGg and he's been w/out them for 4 months so I think it's time I challenge them. Thank you everyone for all of the advice. ASD Intro Diet Since the many of the children with ASD were casein free before beginning the SCD™, here is a list of suggested foods for the intro diet. The intro diet should be followed for 2-5 days. Chicken broth --Chicken broth with pureed cooked carrots --Chicken broth with chunks of cooked chicken --Chicken broth with cooked carrot sliced into little " coins " --Chicken broth with " chicken balls " made from ground chicken --Chicken broth with " noodles " made from beaten eggs cooked omelette-style into a " crepe " and then rolled up and thinly sliced --Chicken egg-drop soup Chicken pancakes Roasted chicken Roasted turkey Beef broth --Beef broth with meatballs made from ground beef Hamburger patties Eggs --scrambled --poached --hard-boiled --soft-boiled --sunny side up --deviled eggs made with homemade mayo Homemade jello (made from unflavored real gelatin and purple and/or white grape juice) Made in a shallow pan and cut with shaped cookie cutters or into cubes > 2. If your child is a " yeasty boy " do you also need to avoid fruits? You can decrease amounts of fruit and honey at the start and there are meds that reduce yeast. > 3. Does this prevent future food sensitivites? As healing proceeds food sensitivities often decrease but not genuine food allergies. > 4. Do I still need to keep away the tomatoes, bannanas, etc that are > SCD legal if we are on this diet? Depends. I have Latex Allergy and can never eat bananas but they were among the best tolerated foods by infants who first went on SCD. They must be ripe with black spots. There are several mechanisms that could cause reacting adversely to tomato and it will be necessary to do some tests to confirm that they are indeed reacting adversely. As it is easiest to do either CAP RAST tests on blood or Skin Prick Tests then this (these) will be done first of all. A positive result with either will confirm the production of IgE by that patient's immune system against that food. > > Thanks for any info you have. This diet looks like a doozy Here's what Webster says abiout the word " doozy, " -- an extraordinary one of its kind " Yep, that's SCD millions have done it and countless have improved or healed. It's a doozy all right! Also...is there anyone in the Inland > Empire of California that is well versed on SCD? I'm looking for a > speaker for our TACA mtg and this would be a great topic. Thanks " Grammy " Gay Bauer has a list of SCD buddies and will likely respond. Carol F. Toronto, Celiac, SCD 5 years
Guest guest
Tami, One think you might look into to handle the immediate food sensitivities is an alternative treatment called NAET (Nambudripad Allergy Elimination Treatment). It can eliminate allergies/sensitivities/intolerances. You still have to heal the gut, otherwise the allergies/sensitivities/intolerances will re-create, but it can be a useful tool to expand food choices while doing something like SCD to heal. The only caution is that not all practitioners may be effective for any specific person. I had to go to a couple before I found someone that effectively cleared the allergies for me and my son. Guest guest
Tami, You could find an NAET practitioner just by searching on " find an NAET practitioner " , but sometimes it's better to ask around to hear what other people are saying. The one that worked so well for us actually did a variation of NAET, and used more the process that is popular in Europe, rather than the more popular one here. You could probably call a naturopathic doctor in your phone book, or any other alternative medicine practitioner, and ask them if they know someone that they highly recommend. If you want to go the internet route, you might try http://www.naet.com/subscribers/doctor.html. Basically, NAET stimulates certain acupuncture energy meridians. How they are stimulated depends on the practitioner. I have met practitioners that stimulated them with vibrators, laser lights, and acupuncture needles. The one that worked best for me was the laser lights. Hope it helps, Marilyn leaky gut, low adrenal/thyroid, SCD 3 1/2 weeks Re: new to group - questions? >I like that idea Marilyn.
