, oh my gosh, what a bummer! I never did get the chance to get

excited, as my insurance company turned me down flat from the get-go. Were

you able to take down the names of the people who said you were approved? I

have heard of some people even recording conversations with their insurance

companies for proof.......but sometimes if you have a name it helps. Too

bad they didn't actually give you a letter of approval.....then you would

have a legal case. I can only imagine how disappointed you are. I am in

appeal right now, I called yesterday to see how things are going, and they

never got back to me. So it's all a waiting game. But I am being patient,

I will have surgery when it's time....I don't want to go against the grain.

I am really interested in purchasing the insurance that will cover you in

case insurance won't cover the surgery itself but will cover you if you have

complications. I don't think it's the cost of the initial surgery that

bothers us.....it's the additional costs if we find ourselves in the OR

again to repair a leak (small chance, but still there). And I'm sure Dr R

would feel better knowing that we had a back-up plan. But hopefully their

medical review board will approve you for surgery and you will be in the OR

before too long. And they don't like faxes/email because they are

instantaneous.....they want something that will take DAYS and they can blame

it on the mail system and say they got lost. If I were you, I would get the

name of the person it is supposed to be sent to, and I would mail it by

return receipt registered mail, so that person actually had to sign the

paper that they'd received it and I would have a copy for my own records.

Good luck, if we both get turned down, let's have a pity party together. :-)

But God willing, we will both be butterflies one day. :-)

:

I am also having a hard time, I have made a pest of myself with the insurance

company. They tell me that their is no telephone number to call to find out

what is going on with my case because I am the subscriber, the doctor has to

call and I can call the doctor to get any information that I want, ALL I WANT

IS SOMEONE TO TELL ME YOU ARE APPROVED! Is that so hard?

Debbie mailed in the packet to BCBS Preferred Plus 04/22/2000. Nothing yet.

What do I do now? Do I E-mail Debbie? I think I will.

But I don't want to pester that dear girl, she is working so hard for

everyone now and I know she is doing her best for me. I've only E-mailed her

twice so far I think.

What kind of insurance do you have?

I really want to go for surgery week of July 10, do you think it is too soon

to request that date since I don't have approval yet?

I'm sorry for rambling.

God Bless!

Hi Guys,

I think I told ya'll the story of a lady in Dallas that had WLS and was

trying to get her plastic surgery for the excess skin on her arms and tummy

approved through Prudential.

She called the insurance people everyday for weeks without success. She worked

for a major bank in Dallas and decided to look in the bank conputer to see if

she

could find the phone number for the president of Prudential. Well she found him

alright, along with his cell phone number. She called him on his cell phone and

found him on the golf course. She explained to him what she needed and how she

was getting the runaround from his people

and how excess skin is abnormal and should be covered, etc..... Well she got him

to approve it!!!!!!! Maybe if we started pestering the top dogs at these

insurance companies we could get better results. Just thought I would throw that

out. I'll bet the web has most of the info posted about these insurance execs.

Might be worth a try. She got her plastic surgery paid for by being persistant.
