Guest guest
, My son is ASD and battling yeast. He ate little on SCD at the beginning and was only in the 5th percentile for his weight. I was so stressed anytime he didn't eat and constantly tried to get some food into him, so I know how you feel. Now he is in the 10th percentile for weight and doing so well that his nutritionist in Boston asked to use him as a case study example to show to other GI doctor's that think the diet is too risky and don't understand it. She even tried one of his pumpkin/almond cookies and was impressed at how good they were. He is a good eater now and finally starting to eat more of what we eat that is SCD compliant. My husband and I are not SCD, but I try to make meals that are so that our son can eat what we are eating. I hope to be SCD soon. People are amazed at how healthy he eats. Nothing goes into his body that doesn't have nutritional value being on this diet. He is also on the verge of losing his ASD diagnosis. We had started her on diflucan and she started eating well, but then it seemed like she was getting strep throat again. So, our DAN doctor switched us to saccharomyces boulardi because she said it also targets bacteria as well as yeast. She seems to be having some die off, but I'm so worried that she is not eating much again--and she can't afford it. Has anyone else struggled with appetite/weight and come out the other side? I'm finding it so hard to watch her not eat. Thanks,
Guest guest
Hi Kim, Thanks so much for your reply, this is really scary having her not eat much. She is also in the 5th percentile. Would you ever be willing to talk on the phone or email. My email is jjcox22@.... If you are comfortable with talking, let me know, it's OK if you're not, I understand.
