Guest guest
Thanks for the tip. would not eat the gelatin so far, but it was made with purple grape juice. Maybe I'll try your fruit snack recipe and add some pureed strawberry or blueberry to give it the berry taste he likes. He's real picky about his fruits. I have tried the fruit leathers from Trader Joe's and cut them up telling him they were fruit snacks, but he still wouldn't eat them. I have found some dried tart cherries at TJ's that he likes. Thanks for all the suggestions. Sue and (age 3 SCD for 6 days) > > > > I've noticed some of you post with a note that you are 95% SCD. > What > > does this mean? Guest guest
I discovered on accident that if you dehydrate the gelatin squares a bit, they acquire a gummy bear consistency. You can also use cookie cutters to give them attractive shapes. > > Thanks for the tip. would not eat the gelatin so far, but it > was made with purple grape juice. Then, take the plastic wrap and cover the top of the cookie sheet. 3. Put the chopped fruit and two tablespoons honey in the blender. Make sure that the top is secure on the blender. 4. Blend for ten seconds or until it's smooth. 5. Pour the fruit onto the cookie sheet and smooth it out with a spoon or spatula. Make sure that you spread it evenly. 6. Put the tray in the oven and cook for three hours or until the fruit is dry. 7. Remember that it takes a long time for the fruit to cook in the oven. It won't save time if you turn up the heat. You'll just burn the fruit. 8. Once the fruit is dry, take it out of the oven and set it aside to cool. 9. When it is cool, just roll it up and it's ready to eat. Carol F. Guest guest
Thanks, I will have to try both these suggestions. I can't very well send him to preschool with frozen blueberries (besides thawing out, they would be extremely messy)! I might be able to make some easily transported berry gummy gelatins or homemade fruit leather. Guest guest
How exactly do you dehydrate the gelatin cubes? I made a batch of cubes this morning with pureed/boiled/strained berries and they taste pretty good. I have not tried them on yet though. It would have to be a cold dehydration right? I'm imagining the gelatin would melt in the heat. Sue and (day 8 of SCD) > > > > Thanks for the tip. would not eat the gelatin so far, but it > > was made with purple grape juice.
