It's my understanding that pure extracts like almond and lemon are fine if they

are pure. :)

My son also has UC and is in remmission. Yippee for SCD!

Can anyone tell me, which other oils - besides olive oil - are

acceptable on the SCD diet?

Also - is anyone using pure pumpkin from a can with no addatives for

their pumpkin recipes?

Thanks so much.

Read about oils on page 77 of BTVC edition 10.

Hi Scdbob,

Oils: Safflower, sunflower, corn, grapeseed, peanut etc.

Flax but limited amounts, see " Flaxseed and flaxseed oil " at

http://www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info/knowledge_base/a_to_f.htm

You can search for other oils at

http://www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info/Search/search.htm

Or ask here about specific ones.

In BTVC, olive oil and butter (esp. cultured butter) are listed

as " highly recommended " .

I've seen canola oil recommended on this list but Elaine did NOT like

it:

More about fats here, including an interesting article, " The Great Con-

ola "

The traditional fats are the healthiest.
