Hi Lorie, I wouldn't change anything. I am 4 months post op and I am more

than satisifed with my results. I have lost 71 lbs so far and I still eat

lots of stuff. I have energy that I didn't have before. So no regrets at

all and nothing to change. Anne in Missouri

Hi Lori,

That's a great question. I look forward to seeing other folk's answers!

I'm only 5 weeks post-op, but so far the only thing I really wish I could do

now that I could do pre-op is gulp ice cold water! Sometimes I'm so thirsty

and I would love to just chug a bottle of water!

Oh well, small price for better health! As of today, down 22lbs and 15.25

inches!!

Things are different, but I do not think I would change anything at

this point. So far the changes have been positive. I would note

that, for me, there has been an adjustment period which is still in

progress. I am still learning how and what to eat, but more than

that--I am learning about life without a lot of food in it. I guess

it seems obvious that changes will be made even from the pre-op

viewpoint, but for me the actuall experience has been very rich.

Questions come up: What do you do for fun? What do you do with the

time once taken up by a pre-occupation with food? What do you look

forward to in a given day? etc. It has not been a harsh time, but it

has been full of little psychological changes that I had not fully

anticipated. As I said the changes have been good--but it is

something to prepare for I think.

Lori;

I will jokingly tell you that I miss not eating Chinese Food (I think

the amount of grease in it is what makes me sick). I don't miss

being

able to eat a ton of food. Everything is different: sometimes I miss

the emotional comfort of food (but then it is a signal to work on

what is really bothering me), my life is busier but I cannot eat fast

food (grease, again), my attitudes towards wanting food are different

(why would I have ever wanted to eat a whole can of frosting/whole

pint of ice cream/2 double cheeseburger for $2.00 plus fries and a

ex-large coke, blah, blah, blah - the thought makes my hair stand on

end now. I don't feel that I HAVE to eat anymore), I can do so much

more. I don't have excuses anymore as to why I am not succeeding in

life the way I want (can't hide behind/or blame the weight anymore).

Lordy, I don't miss wearing a size 32 dress. I don't miss my

hypogylcemic episodes. I don't miss my constant arthritis aches. I

do hate to exercise still so I miss sleeping in till 7:00 a.m. (I now

am at the gym by 7:15 to exercise before work). I do miss not being

able to take a big swig when I am thirsty. I have to take smaller

gulps...ah, well, such a small trade off. There isn't much about my

old life I miss, especially the 53 pounds I have lost. Good luck to

you.

Ginny,

Wow girl you are doing GREAT!!!!! I'm so glad to see you have

reached a terrific milestone, under 300. You go girl!!!!!!!! I certainly

hope I'm as successful when I get my turn. I'm still waiting for the

insurance. Dr. R's office faxed it in last friday. I called Prudential today

but they didn't know if they had received it. They said I should hear

something in five days. I'm still hoping for a May date. Keep your fingers

crossed and keep up the good work.

Hi! It's been almost 14 months for me. The only thing I would have done

differently is I wish I could have had it done sooner. I feel absolutely

wonderful. No regrets whatsoever. I can eat almost anything I want. I

have more energy, more confidence and totally enjoy life more. Who would

have thought that 14 months I would have weighed 350 pounds and probably

still gaining but today weigh 190 pounds. Last year I could only buy

clothes at s or Lane 's or the local tent makers. Today I

can go into K-Mart and buy and Kathy Ireland clothes and

some of them are even too big. Do I feel fantastic. Bet your bippie I do.

I've had no complications or problems from this surgery. Only positive

things have happened. I've made some wonderful new friends on this list.

I've met an amazing and totally awesome Dr. R. who is an angel in disguise.

I've had the courage to go on National TV. I could be on here forever and a

day going on how great life is but I won't. I think you can get the general

drift I'm heading.
