Somtimes young children don't chew very well (or at all) and depending on transit time thru the body there may still be largish pieces in the stool. Some wait it out and wait for the body to heal and some add in enzymes. > 2. When I gave banana, her behavior got worse but it never got better > after it has been removed. Are you still using epsom salt baths. Have you been keeping a food journal (including bm's) hese really are a great help especially at the beginning when there are many changes. Guest guest
Sheila, Thanks for the reply. > > Questions: > > 1. ALL vegetables introduced seem to come out in the poop. Her poop was grayish white for only a day and she was lethargic for 2 days. Then she seems better but after 5 days, her behavior got worse and tummy got more bloated and rings appear under her eyes. Hasn't gotten better. Is this " die-off " ? Or is it sensitivity to some food I gave? She is equally bad no matter what food I introduce or even if I put her back on Intro-Diet (plus applesauce which we can't remove). > > 2. What other information? Would really really really appreciate some help in deciphering. I'm in the panic stage. Especially when I see her tummy which is stretching her skin so tight. Yes, I'm still using epsom salt baths. Don't see much effect at all. Except that she doesn't perspire much at night anymore. I'm using 3/4 cup in her toddler bathtub, which is bigger than infant tub but about 1/2 the size of a normal bathtub. > Have you been keeping a food journal (including bm's) hese really > are a great help especially at the beginning when there are many > changes. Yes I have. Record the food eaten, the poop, the behavior, the gas, etc. But I'm not figuring out a pattern because whatever I introduce, it seems to be getting worse. :-(
Guest guest
, My son had chunks of food in his stool prior to starting the SCDiet. The diet will help, but I would also start using digestive enzymes before every meal. We use Houston AFP Peptizyde (for proteins) and Zyme Prime, (for carbs) one of each before each meal and larger snack. You can start at a smaller dose, but remember the importance here is consistency. It may take a while before you notice a change but just get into the habit of using them. There is also a No Phenol but since we don't use that one I cannot share experience. I open each capsule and mix with a little bit of homemade cooked pear sauce and give it right before a meal. There is minimal to no taste, tolerates it well. If a child can swallow the capsule, it is best to use it about 15-20 minutes before each meal. We started the diet on Sept. 17th of this year and have been using enzymes daily. My son still has constipation issues, but even when we enema him, his stool is now formed and appears well digested. He is definitely more comfortable now, too. One more note, if your child has low muscle tone issues, she may not be chewing her food thoroughly either. Break it up smaller and use the enzymes all the time. Over time, you will see a difference. son, 4 yrs 10 mos, ASD, SCD 3 mos. Bits of food appearing in the poop. What should I do? Hi, Sorry, I have more questions. My daughter has been on SCD for a little more than 3 weeks. So far, every kind of vegetables I have introduced (carrot, spinach, green beans) have appeared in the poop. I'm not sure about zucchini because I probably can't detect that even if it is in the poop. I took her off carrot and spinach when it came out in the poopo. Now green beans and probably zucchini also came out undigested. She was gassy and begavior got worse when I gave her banana, so I suspect phenol and is trying to take away her apple juice and applesauce. In which case she'll have no carb! Questions: 1. ALL vegetables introduced seem to come out in the poop. Do I have to stop giving them? All vegetables were peeled, seeded and well cooked. 2. When I gave banana, her behavior got worse but it never got better after it has been removed. It has been more than 10 days. Could it be yeast? Could it be just initial die-off in SCD process? Please help. Really discouraged and worried.
