Thanks for caring Nannette. I really enjoy your long replys when I ask for

help here. It is most appreciated:). And need some opinions of people who

have been here before.

I have increased Kali's acidophilus from 1/2 to 1 tablet a day with her

yogurt and her redness and discharge went away along with the white coating

on her tongue within the last 3 days even but, she has gotten really hyper.

I worry about her detoxing too fast and MORE damage occurring. Although I'm

all in favor of nuking these critters:). I have noticed her hands down there

scratching her bottom for the last few days and we will go wash hands and we

eat with our hands and not touch our bottoms with them everytime. This is

definitely a problem. I can tell you she has been waking up hysterically

laughing. I can see what's going on there in my head and I really don't want

the explanation in words for it:(. Another negative is that now I'm not sure

if I have them now or not. My bottom itch's just talking about it but have

also woke at night recently with a itchy bottom. My daughter crawls in bed

in the night with us. She wears a pullup at night and she needs it changed

in the middle of the night sometimes and I'm not always faithful about

getting up to wash my hands before returning to sleep. I wear long

nightgowns and occassionally no underwear so, can you see why I'm worried?

Also, Kali has PICA. She will eat any paper and some other items also. From

the floor or the toilet if allowed and unattended at all times and she is

unaware of danger most of the time. Some things she knows about though. I

also am a nervous wreck about her running into traffic, going outside if I'm

in the bathroom or climbing to the highest point in the room. I chew my

nails:( We have locks on doors but, she has manged to figure out how to

unlock them all. She is so receptively smart it isn't even funny. And she

understands almost everything but, she doesn't speak. Imitates words now and

then and we almost had it together and then we saw that her allergies were

getting much worse and so was her constipation. We still don't know what

she's allergic to and she gets rashes from her head to her bottom at least 4

times a week. She's self-eliminated all foods except for anything that's bad

for her and chicken and eggs now. She has dark circles around her eyes and

is very hyper. She does dress herself, is potty-trained, and has a pretty

good sleeping schedule most of the time. I am thinking about her getting

treated homeopathically. If I was to treat her at all it would be her whole

body. I wouldn't want to keep supressing her symptoms and make her any

worse. Sorry so long but, I wanted to tell you more about Kali because you

have shown an interest in her here and we get so much wonderful support here

from everyone. Thanks again. Any comments would be greatly appreciated

again. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone! Jenn & Kali 7 months

someone earlier, these are contracted from other people and the environment,

and have absolutely nothing to do with the diet. They're especially

contractible by children who put their hands in their mouths a lot, because

typically the microscopic eggs are under the finger nails, but still need to

make contact with the mouth before being washed away. (I sucked my thumb

until I was nine-years-old, and finally realized I had to quit if I didn't

want pinworms anymore.) My experience with pinworms was so bad that I have

a parasite phobia to this day! They itch terribly at the anus when the body

is at rest (typically at bed-time) and they would keep me awake and freaking

out about the fact that little creatures moving around down there were the

reason for the itch! So . . . from my experience, I advise: take whatever

drug is prescribed. When I was young, the whole family had to take it;

otherwise, the likelihood

> The reason the other person mentioned to have everyone wear underwear at

night is because the worms can also enter the system directly through the

anus. So, you see, washing sheets daily, adding the barrier of underwear,

and keeping the hands and body exceptionally clean guarantees the worms will

be gone; medicine kills the interior ones, barriers prevent re-entry into a

host; cleanliness washes away all those in various stages of hatching so

that they can't survive and re-enter unsuspecting people.

> You don't need any special test to find out if someone has pinworms. If

you (or your child) complains of an itchy anus at bed-time, look at it. You

will see little rice-like worms outside the anus moving around. You'd

probably even see them on toilet paper if you wiped back there. However, if

you want to be sure, the doctor can take a stool sample from you and look

for worms in it. (Warning: If you've ever felt like your hair was itchy

after hearing about someone having lice, the same " power of suggestion " can

happen now that you've read about pinworms--you likely DON'T have them! :-)

They're unlikely in adults because we keep our hands clean and out of our

mouths.)

> Concerning yeast: My daughter gets a yeast infection every time she goes

on an antibiotic for strep. She is always on the Kirkman's

(Elaine-approved) Lactobacillus Acidophilus (L.A.) capsules. When her yeast

condition acts up (she grabs at her crotch and/or becomes whiny, or even

self-injurious) we immediately increase her L.A. dose three-fold. She

always improves within 24-hours and we can reduce her dosage of L.A. to

maintenance levels in about 1-week.
