After considering the doctors in Florida (in network) and the methods used compared to Dr. Rutledge, I opted for Dr. R. no matter how much the out-of- network fee would cost. If I have to borrow money to pay for it then so be it. That is how strongly I felt about using Dr. R. Even now on the other side I feel exactly the same way about our precious Dr. R. How I would love if Dr R had a satelite office in Fla. 727 392-0916 or 352 794-0012. My Insurance has told me 2x they would approve my MGB but they are waiting for the papers to be faxed to them from DR R's ofc. I called today and talked to Barb and she said they had my Patient Info but she is not sure anything has been sent to Ins as their Computer Server has been down for over a week. She said she would ask Debbie to pls try and get it out as my Ins is waiting on them. (WHAT A CHANGE). Next to my children and my husband this is the most important thing in my life, maybe I have it backwards, because w/o this surgery I won't be around for my husband and my kids with all this extra weight. Robynn, where are you located? I know Rexanne is in Tampa. I want to get together with her to see a real before and after. She called and talked to me and I was so fired up after her talk and was so sure I made the best and only decision of MGB with DR R. But if the insurance Co. will pay in network I will go to Dr. R, other wise I am looking at late June to Early July. If you are ever down my way let me know. Its weird, but when I had my hysterectomy (open,of course), I had a regular scar like normal people, maybe even less. I had a small cyst removed from my spine and the scar is bigger than the cyst was!!! I told my surgeon before the LAP RNY and he said he would do his best, but 2 of my 5 scars are keloid - I keep putting Vit E on them, but the others are fading into nothing. My surgeon said that the same surgeon, same instruments, same procedure can produce different scars on the same body. I would HATE to have a big ole keliod across my abdomen though - plus they ITCH so badly. Go for LAP if at all possible. I went to the support group last night, sat next to a nice man, who was not heavy at all, said he had the surgery 2 years, I asked him how much weight he a lost, he said 340 pounds, he used to weigh over 500 puonds and now weighs 190, showed me his pants..... wow, very impressive, said he has had reconstructive surgery also, and that was much more painful then WLS.
