Guest guest
We did SCD with out 9y/o with autism for about 6mo. and did saw minimal improvement. We are considering it again. Our last round of testing shows that she has become allergic to what seems like everything. All the usual meats; chicken, turkey, beef, pork, tuna, eggs, milk, yogurt, cheeses, soy, cashews, peanut butter and many fruits. We have switched over to specialty meats but I am having lots of difficulty feeding her. Any suggestions from those of you with kids in similar situations and does SCD make these allergies better? Thanks for any info. N.
Guest guest
In order to give SCD a fair chance to work, you will need to avoid foods to which there is an allergy/sensitivity. As far as there being so many allergies/sensitivities, you might wish to investigate an alternative treatment known as NAET (Nambudripad Allergy Elimination Treatment), which can help eliminate food reactions while you work to heal the gut. Yes, SCD can reduce the sensitivities to foods, since it heals the gut. Sensitivities tend to come from having weak digestion, and SCD will improve digestion. Guest guest
Hi all- We have only been doing SCD for about 2 weeks, but I thought I would share what I am doing for my son. We were GFCF for six months prior to starting SCD. After a summer of colonoscopies, elimination diets, etc., I stumbled upon SCD. Since I already knew 80% of all foods caused him to have some type of reaction, I simply took all legal SCD food and developed a 4 day rotation schedule. (after the Intro diet) That with the addition of enzymes seems to really be working for us. I don't know what the SCDers who've been around a long time will say about this approach, but I can tell you that the more limited you make your/your child's diet, the more sensitivities you will end up with (until the gut heals). My son has grown about 1 inch in the last 2 weeks (no joke!), so I know he was starving for the nutrients in all the foods he was not getting. A hint on eggs- buy chicken, quail and duck. Some days use whites, some days use yolks. Hope that helps! Guest guest
Hi Colleen- I want to start off by saying this is not the route recommended by SCD on how to implement the diet!!! I was already very familiar with the things that caused my son the most problems before starting SCD. That being said, the more I limited his diet, the worse the situation became. So, I got a sample rotation diet from www.parentsofallergicchildren.org (search for rotation diet and view a 4 day example) You will need to tweek it to contain only SCD foods, but it's a good start. My son's food reactions used to last 6 hours or more. Now, with an SCD rotation, if he has any reaction (rare), it clears out within an hour. We are still building up our amount of enzymes, but that has made a huge difference as well. Hope that helps! Guest guest
As you get rid of the really bad offenders (grains, dairy, etc.), your body can now start to tell you about all the little things that are problematic as well. All the sensitivities = gut problems. Hopefully they will go away as you heal. --- Petrolino lkpetrolino@...> wrote: > This is interesting, because I have noticed that I > have continued to develop > more and more sensetivities, why is this? is this > normal? As healing progesses some of the suspected allergies may diminish or disappear. I true food allergy that produces a strong reaction will not go away and the food should be avoided.
