Guest guest
just my 2 cents.. my son has had a seizure disorder since he was 6 months old. He is now completely diagnosed as asd as well as seizure disorder. we have now sucessfully weaned our 4 yr old son off his meds, it has only been a short while though. I credit the diet along with other things. Guest guest
I'm so happy to answer this question. I have Grave's disease, and that's why I started SCD. I've only been on it for about a month, but get this: my joint pain has vanished. Since grave's is an autoimmune disease and autoimmunity starts in the gut, this seems the logical choice. Try it! --- Marilyn Sawyer marilyn1972@...> wrote: > What about arthritis? and thyroid/adrenal disorders? > > I'm struggling with those, and wonder if SCD would > help. > > Thanks, > Marilyn > > > > > > Re: Re: Can SCD help with > seizure disorder? > > > hi > > my point of epilepsy is this, epilepsy, autistis > spectrum disorders and > migraine all run along the same bio-chemical pathway > > Dr Reichelt based in oslo university norway did a > study on people with > schizophrenia and epilepsy and found that by > removing wheat and dairy, their > symptoms either decreased so dramatically that they > no longer required > medication or required very little > > hth > > emma > toekneeabc home@...> wrote: > Thank you all for your responses & emails. Guest guest
I absolutely agree, consult your neuro FIRST. We were fortunate enough to have a forward thinking neuro who is open to these types of intervention. As for blood levels, ours was checked on a regular basis to ensure that there was enough med in his system to prevent seizures, as his were so extreme he would stop breathing every time- every day. What convinced us to give this diet a try was not so much the Autism aspect but the mention of possible seizure control in the book BTVC, chapter 7, page 46. I must mention that the description of the seizure in the book is exactly like the ones we were fighting, as you mentioned ;not all seizures are equal or from the same origin. Guest guest
Does Grave's disease usually have joint pain associated with it? I thought I had hypothyroidism. My body is attacking my thyroid gland. I'm tired. I take medication, but since my adrenal glands are also depleted, the medication is of only limited benefit. But I like your point that autoimmunity starts in the gut, and so it's logical to fix the gut. I know my gut is totally messed up. I've also got alot of joint pain, but don't know why. Is it arthritis, or something from the thyroid? or another autoimmune condition? Thanks for your help, Marilyn Re: Re: Can SCD help with >> seizure disorder? >> >> >> hi >> >> my point of epilepsy is this, epilepsy, autistis >> spectrum disorders and >> migraine all run along the same bio-chemical pathway >> >> Dr Reichelt based in oslo university norway did a >> study on people with >> schizophrenia and epilepsy and found that by >> removing wheat and dairy, their >> symptoms either decreased so dramatically that they >> no longer required >> medication or required very little >> >> hth >> >> emma >> toekneeabc home@...> wrote: >> Thank you all for your responses & emails. I've been in remission from Graves for over 4 years after 14 months on methimazole. I ate well but hadn't heard of SCD. People on the yahoo graves support list (graves_support ) have also gone on fairly radical diets but no one's tried SCD. Guest guest
All I know is that when I started the diet, the joint pain vanished. That's good enough for me.
