That is not exactly true, the intestinal part is a practice that has been used for years, BUT the stomach pouch is Dr.R's own creation and as a tube, it cuts down on acid reflux and most patients claim that there are fewer cravings because the top of the stomach is not used for the pouch like in other surgeries. This was a big worry for me, but they did tell me that complications would be considered life threatening and the would cover those even though WLS was an excluded benefit. Worth a try.
