Guest guest
My son is almost 4 and I started him on the SCD diet at the end of May, there have been some improvements with sleep and behaviour, however his stool is still foul smelling, the consistency of mashed potatoes and contains undigested food. I'm using Florstor, a probiotic recommended by his DAN doctor but it contains lactose (quantities unknown). Could this be the problem? We were also unable to get him to drink the chicken soup and the gelatin, so we just eliminated all the illegal food and went straight to the main meals. Please Help this deperate mum. What are all the ingredients and what bacterial strain(s) does it contain? What foods is he eating now? He may not need to go back to the intro but may do better with some more basic foods. Guest guest
Thanks for your response, the probiotic strain is Saccharomyces boulardii lyo, Magnesium Sterate, Lactose, hydroxy-propyl-methyl cellulose & Titanium dioxide. He is eating all legal SCD foods (chicken breast, carrots, beans, courgettes, garlic, onions and red peppers), eggs and freshly pressed juices, with the nuts they were appearing as he chewed them in his stool. > Hi potterymum1, > > > My son is almost 4 and I started him on the SCD diet at the end > of > > May, there have been some improvements with sleep and behaviour, > > however his stool is still foul smelling, the consistency of > mashed > > potatoes and contains undigested food. Guest guest
Hi potterymum1, > Thanks for your response, the probiotic strain is Saccharomyces > boulardii lyo, Magnesium Sterate, Lactose, hydroxy-propyl-methyl > cellulose & Titanium dioxide. The lactose is likely just enough for the S. boulardii to survive. (They feed on lactose and will digest it all in the same manner as the L. acdiophilus in the Lyosan probiotic capsules which contain skim milk powder). The Florstor may not work for those with severe dairy allergies, but if that isn't the case with your son it is legal. Kirkman also makes a legal S. boulardii. He is eating all legal SCD foods > (chicken breast, carrots, beans, courgettes, garlic, onions and red > peppers), eggs and freshly pressed juices, with the nuts they were > appearing as he chewed them in his stool. Are the cougettes peeled? Are the red peppers peeled? Are the vegetables cooked? If his stool is still loose he is not likely ready for tough skins. Are the nuts ground or nut butter? Do the nuts still have the skins on? Are you diluting the juices (they should be at least half water). Guest guest
How is your daughter doing now? Did she start with just the chicken soup and yoghurt? How many days did she do that?
