Guest guest
Autism 200 courses-Biomedical treatments---- Bivens Update Hi Dr. Cowan, I must say that I am a bit puzzled. Why are you doing a lecture on biomedical treatments? You obviously do not specialize in them. Perhaps you should leave that subject with the DAN! doctors and show a little respect! As usual I want to update you on my son . He is 4 and 10mths now. He will be attending a typical preschool with no aide this year for three days a week, 9am-1pm. He has been receiving ABA/Floortime intervention for 20 hrs per week since late April. He has been Gf/CF for just under a year and he has been on the Specific Carbohydrate diet for a month now. His lead level is down to " Low " now (It was very high ) and we are currently chelating High levels of Tin. We hope to switch to TD-DMPS soon to take care of mercury issues. We had a behavior consultant set up our in-home program in April. Within a month we decided to switch to the U of W Autism Center. The local ABA consultant just couldn't keep up with Gabe. She claims she has never seen a kid progess so quickly. He is currently in the advanced curriculum as outlined by Dr. Mike Carpenter at the U of W Autism Center. Fortunately for us, Gabe is responding well to the diet (He no longer has diarreha/constipation issues), the chelation & supplements and the ABA/Floortime program. I sincerely hope that you do not waste your energy on bad mouthing biomedical treatments. I understand that you feel that it is wrong for parents to only go the biomedical route and not pursue the ABA therapy and I agree with you one hundred percent! I also believe it is wrong to ignore the heavy metal and gut issues these kids have and taking care of this part makes the ABA work better and faster. Sincerely, Beth Bivens Mother of
