Guest guest
Terri, I have been having the same feelings! My hubby and my mom are certain I will die if I have it. They are still thinking of the surgeries from 20-30 yrs ago. How can I convince them otherwise? Mem ---------- From: Deckbound@... Once you start thinking about the MGB, you just can't turn it off, especially if you have a little voice within that is saying " this is what you need " !!!! That's the way it was with me. I joined this list last summer and followed it religiously all summer, fall and through Christmas!!! Could hardly think of anything else!!! My surgery was Jan 10, 2000. Here in Missouri, no one had heard of Dr Rutledge or the surgery and everyone was against me/ even my family and friends. But deep in my heart I KNEW it was right for me. Everything has been great ever since my surgery. I've lost 72 lbs so far and I feel good, have energy, still eat plenty and am down right happy with myself. I dance and sing a lot. So keep saying your prayers and visiting with everyone you can on this list and in your home town and things will work out for you too. It just takes time, planning, schemming and concentration to get it all together. in Missouri ------------------------------------------------------------------------ CLICK HERE AND START SAVING ON LONG DISTANCE BILLS TODAY! http://click.egroups.com/1/4125/2/_/453517/_/958673608/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ This message is from the Mini-Gastric Bypass Mailing List at Onelist.com Please visit our web site at http://clos.net Get the Patient Manual at http://clos.net/get_patient_manual.htm
Guest guest
Hi Mem... I'm not quite sure you can convince them as much as you would like to but you can try to get them more informed on this surgery as well as other surgeries.. Give them charts to look at with all the statistics on it for each... give them articles to read... send them to this list and let them read the results from people who have been there... let them meet Dr R and talk to him one on one... Show them how informed you are and try to get them to realize that you aren't doing this to put yourself in harms way because it is an " elective " surgery but because you are fighting for your chance to live a normal healthy life... my family is very worried that I will die because of this surgery but they are also aware that I can die walking across the street.. If it's my time to leave this world, then it's just my time and there is nothing gonna stop that... I WILL go home after surgery... I just hope it's the one on this earth as I am not ready to leave yet... But, it's not my choice... I can only try to be as healthy as i can while i am on this earth.. Life life to the fullest today, as yesterday is already gone and tomorrow never comes! In my thoughts and prayers, Terri >Terri, >I have been having the same feelings! Guest guest
Mem, My hubby was very against the surgery when I began my research, as I became educated I educated him. I made him read the manual and lots of the post, I showed him what the co-morbidies were and what they meant. Now he goes with me to the Dr. appointments and is incredibly supportive. The key was education and communication. Robynn Re: I'm back again! > > Dear Terri, Welcome back!!! Guest guest
I took my hubby to clinic, clueless. I figured it's the best place to find out and learn. It worked! a Byne wrote: > > Mem, > My hubby was very against the surgery when I began my research, as I became > educated I educated him.
