Debbie,

Thanks. I will try the magnesium oxide. That's the best help I've heard

yet. Thanks. Us moms have to figure things out sometimes. Jenn & kali 7

Hey there Kali's Mommy!

I really sympathize what you are going through. Both of my kids are the same

way with food. It takes literally a good 3-6 months away from a trigger food to

get going good again. Some of these kids are more sensitive than others, and I

consider mine on the extreme sensitive side. When starting the intro, my kids

too would have nothing to eat...they starved themselves. I let them eat what

they would, and they finally got to eating more.

I see that Kali has been consumming Mc's Chicken nuggets only a month

ago. First of all, the chicken nuggets contain a whole lot more than chicken. AT

least I can say for my kids, they contribute to a massive regression. This last

Halloween, my children shared an order of Mc's chicken nuggets. It was

actually the first time they have ever had any in their life, and we are still

recouping from that one episode. Both Hunter and Ben ate only one a piece, and

this is going on 6 weeks ago. There was a huge regression after that, and this

is the same story as always. Especially Hunter, he is very sneaky, very quick,

and knows how to stuff something in, keep his mouth closed and literally

swallow. If he seems me coming after him, whatever it is he isn't supposed to

have, is gone by the time I grab a hold of him.

Kali having been eating mcdonalds even just a month ago, will take and may

take up to 6 months to completely process out of her system...it all depends on

how functional her kidney, liver and pancreas are, in addition to whatever else

there may be.

My son Hunter stopped eating food at one year...refused anything. Now he is 6,

and I believe both my kids would be half dead if I did not find SCD and the

right enzymes. This whole food thing can get better...just keep hanging in

there, try to identify any present food allergies in the diet, keep looking for

enzymes, and do whatever you can to absolute shut down the illegals. It is in my

opinion only, that until Kali's system can be cleaned of all the MSG, gluten,

food dyes and color, sugar, corn syrup, etc. and additional uncovered allergens,

things will continue as they are...they do for us at least. It has taken my body

sometimes 6 months to get back to normal after an infraction. The pay off is

stopping these cycles, getting healthier, responsive kids. It is not easy, and I

don't mean to make it sound that way, but it will get easier.

You have to keep looking at foods. For instance, annatto, a natural food

coloring in cheeses and even some meats! is considered an excitotoxin for some.

It increases undesirable behavoirs in my younguns. At this point, though, you

need to institute and maintain a good 3-6 months strict SCD menu. I wouldn't

trust the school. When my son Hunter was in school, he would always manage to

find the crumbs from someone elses snack.

So my advice would be, keep doing what you are doing, work on the diet,

constipation and other issues, but keep to the diet. We had to go through this

same nightmare too- to get out on the other end. Think of it this way, if the

body is loaded down and cannot detoxify itself, and the organs are under strain,

one month away from illegals doesn't mean a whole lot, the stuff, especially the

chemicals may very well still be circulating in the blood. Looking at Kali's

pre-SCD diet, I would hazzard to guess her body systems are all not working

well...not just leaky gut and immune system.

This is all just my opinion, and nothing I have said to you I have not

directly experienced on this end...and you are not alone.[[[HUGS]]]

Re: HELP....

Hi Jenn,

What did she eat before SCD?

How about making foods that have cooked veggies added in? Meatloaf,

meatballs? The bread recipe that uses cooked vegetables in the file

section (If you puree the veggies beforehand you won't know at all),

tomato sauce pureed with cooked vegetables.

ago. She had die-off a few times. She also made great gains.

Although, the only veggies she has eaten are uncooked carrots and

cooked zucchini which I hid in the pb brownies but, only once a week

would she eat them each. I give her carrot & pinapple juice with

water and occasionally grape juice. That's all she drinks. She will

only eat raw apples and never started with cooked, peeled or

deseeded fruits or veggies. She literally throws up when just a bite

of pureed or warm fruits or veggies touches her tounge. Then, she is

too grossed out(?) to want anything else. She is very thin already

and she will wait till she gets home from school to want to eat

anything almost everyday. When she comes home, she indulges in

protein ONLY! She has had some recent infractions and she is no

longer looking me in the eye or imitating me. Did her yeast grow

back with the infractions? I feel she may have problems because she

gets constipated like she is - 3 days now- and all with protein left

in there for too long. Do I take away the eggs and meat when she

gets home and force her to choose something good or not eat at all?

She has very dark circles around her eyes now and only noticed them

before she went on the diet. This cannot be healthy. Why won't she

eat? Is she holding out for the " bad " foods? She ate a hershey's

kiss one day, 2 pieces of potatoe bread another day and 2 big bites

off of butter cut into a star another day. All at holiday parties we

were invited to and I tried to stop her but, she is quick and knows

to swallow fast. She has even had increased PICA. What can I do for

her constipation? She will not eat anything that will make her need

to go. I need a supplement or something that will work fast and see

if she's just not feeling great due to the constipation. Sorry so

long but, how much longer does she need to be going through all this-

No Eating at times and not eating the good stuff. I'm sure she has

GI problems and hope to have these addressed soon. I will try to

stick with it for the next month until those GI test results come

back and maybe start over at that time. Right now, I don't think

it'll be beneficial to start over because she won't eat most of the

foods on the intro. Do the moderators here have any helpful

suggestions? We went through going off meds and behaviors are down.

We aren't going back to pre-scd ever again so, we would appreciate

any help please. Thanks in advance. Jenn & Kali Lessard 7 months scd

Hi jenn,

Have you tried making the baked squash fries? If cut like a french

fry they can be a pretty close facsimile, brush or dip in oil ( i

like sunflower but corn oil will more closely mimic the taste of a

french fry)

What kind of meat does she eat?

Summer,

We were able to kick the nuggets a month ago. I know I allowed them for

too long in her diet but, we are finally free from those nuggets!:) I love

you for sending this recent post to me. I need some reassurance to keep

going. Kali has an appt. with a ped. GI Dr. for nutritional anlaysis and

scopes in a week. The doc told me if he sees a deficiency, overkill, or

enzyme propblems that he would let me know and which enzymes she may need,

the dose etc. I am just trying to hang on with her until then. Of course it

will take time to get the results of these tests also. I am keeping her home

from school today because I see she just can't go on like she has been all

week so, I will make her scd favorites today to get something in her. She

has potty-trained herself these last 2 weeks!! Independently. And because we

don't need anymore meds. for her on top of that, I will never go back to the

way we were eating. I will be more patient with the bad foods coming out.

It's taken us 7 months to get an equivalent to maybe 3 months on the diet

due to not getting all the junk out at the beginning and her getting so

sick. I believe this diet is helping her the most out of anything else we

are doing. And the progress she has made has actually been from ONLY 95% SCD

for 6 months. I can't wait to see what she can do next coming out from this

regression. Thank you all! I feel better today knowing she will be home with

me today so I'm in control of what she eats. She still weighs a good 49lbs.

The black circles around the eyes made me worry a lot along with her

regression. But, I know there's always a step back before we go forward. We

need this group just for support sometimes. You are all great! Jenn & Kali

Sheila,

Kali will only eat chix and steak. Steak is a once a week thing for

her. She just won't eat it any other time. That's it for meats. I tried

haddock and she ate it a few times but, now won't touch it. If we are

allowed to use the corn oil, I will try to make her the squash fries. Do you

use butternut squash for those? Thanks for this idea. I will see about doing

this today for her. I hope she likes them. It seems the foods I cook fresh

and hot here at home are not the same when they get to school and get heated

up. I think that's part of the problem. Thanks for your help. Jenn & Kali

scd 7 months By the way, Kali's ped. GI studied this diet and maybe able to

help also if I feel we need to stay on it to reduce problems. He said he

really likes the diet and has encouraged it for Chrohn's disease. I told him

that K is no longer on sleeping and behavior meds. and she has potty-trained

herself while being on this diet in 7 months and he said that he was

impressed and that he may not have seen all the benefits from scd yet. He

was eager to help us. So, we are trying to wait it out. It really is amazing

what this diet alone has done for K without the help from supplements,

vitamins, or enzymes yet!

Hi Jenn,

I use buttercup, but butternut is more french fry-ish. She'll probably prefer

peeled butternut squash fries. Yes, you can use corn oil. Did she use to eat

them with ketchup, if yes, there is a recipe for legal ketchup in BTVC.

Also have you tried the carrot chips/curls? They are pretty tasty. Recipe is

in BTVC and on the pecanbread recipe section (with pics)

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

It sounds like some of her recent stuff could be from die off. Have you tried

epsom salt baths to see if that helps?

Glad to hear your GI is on board :)

K never liked ketchup. Thank God we don't have to get over that too! I have

tried the carrot culs/crisps but, she does not like them. I will use the

epsom salts bath today. I have used them in the past but, she wasn't staying

in long enough. She kept pulling the plug out as soon as she got in but, now

that she's getting in and enjoying her baths more, maybe she might benefit

from the epsom salts baths now. I love them myself! Otherwise, where do you

get the right kind of activated charcoal from? I thought about using this as

well. Her teacher said she's so hyper that almost nothing can get done at

school. I know that this usually lasts about 3 weeks if it is die-off and

that's maybe why she has recently potty-trained herself.? I don't mind the

small regressions when she takes these giant leaps forward! Thanks, Jenn &

Two of you have mentioned the Chicken McNuggets.

I thought you might like to see what is actually in them. See below.

I think it will take time to get the system cleaned out, especially

since Jen mentioned constipation. Who knows if any of the remnants of

this are still in Kali's gut. You will get a lot of it cleaned out

with the prep for the scope. So, maybe a little good news with the

bad of having to get her cleaned out.

I think keeping her home is a good idea. Maybe between the scope and

a break from school you can get her in good shape and keep those

illegals out of her sneaky little grasp. These kids are so smart and

tricky and quick!!

Jenn & Kali Lessard 7 months scd

and hanging in there.
