Dear Cathy,

I sent my PI in on May 2nd and crashed Dr. R's computer. He finally got

it fixed on May 9th, the office faxed it to Prudential on May 12th, Prudential

started working it on May 16th and they approved me on May 19th. I think your

insurance company has had ample time for you to start calling them. I hope you

here something soon.

Good Luck,

Genz

Trish,

I can't go to bed, I hurt too bad. I went to Bob's Texas The

World's Largest Honkey Tonk with my youngest daughter Tenneil. She sings out

there on Tuesday nights.

Well, I was going up about four little steps carrying a full glass of tea

and the rubber sole of my shoe caught the edge of the step and I fell full

force on to both knees landing in a kneeling (praying) position. All 245 lbs

of my fat butt landed on my bad knees. Of course the first thing I did was

look around to see if anyone saw me and thank God I don't think anyone did.

I gracefully (NOT) got up and tried to regain some composure and dignity and

act as if nothing happened. I hobbled back to the table where my daughter

was and she immediately knew something was wrong. Of course the tea dripping

from my arm was a dead give away. So here I am unable to even take a Tylenol

for my banged up knees, sore back and stubbed toe. This just isn't my

day!!!!! Now what are you doing up??????

Hi Robynn,

It's me Genz...I need chicken soup. I was at Bob's last night and

Trish came up behind me and pushed me up the steps and made me fall on my bad

knees.

Then when I turned around she had already run away. I can't believe how mean she

is,

can you?

  • 3 weeks later...

Cathy, I had my MGB on 12/20/99. I was the same way my mouth was always dry

and had very bad breath. That subsided with in about 4 to 6 weeks. Energy was

another problem for me. I did go right back to work after surgery but every

chance I got I was crawling in the bed. I would come home from work on my

lunch break and take a nap. I was thinking to myself if this is the way I am

going to feel for the rest of my life I would have never done it. My husband

was constantly trying to get me out of the bed cause I just wanted to sleep.

I finally went to obesityhelp.com and started asking all the other post ops

in the chat room how long this no energy thing was going to last and they

said about 6 weeks. It took all of the 6 weeks and maybe seven to finally

start getting my energy back and let me tell you boy did it come back. I have

so much energy now I don't know what to do with it all sometimes. Tell your

sister to hang in there it does get better. Liz

Cathy,

I agree with about the bad taste in the mouth possibly

being from ketones. You can check for ketosis in the urine and you can get the

testing strips at the drugstore. Just dip the strip in your urine and the darker

the color purple the greater the ketosis. This occurrs when you limit the amount

of cabohydrates consumed and the body is burning it's own fat. It's really

interesting to watch the change in color as you increase or decrease carbs. Make

sure you have plenty of potassium.....Dr. R says this will cause fatigue. I hope

she starts to feel better soon.

Best Wishes,

We need to keep our blood circulatory system " open " and carrying nutrients

everywhere in our bodies. We MUST has potassium to do this. Please try

Gatorade and V8 juice in two and three ounce servings. If she's still

feeling weak, ask her to nibble on a saltine along with the Gatorade and V8.

The other thing that we sometimes forget to do in the first couple of months

is to choose protein first: bouillon, cottage cheese, yogurt, tofu, and

other types of allowable early post-op protein. Add a TBS of powdered whole

milk to whatever you can for additional protein. Dee in MI.
