Guest guest
you must be missing your friend yet glad the illness was not protracted yes i could pick elianes ongoing research after her leaving elaines children through occasional moderator posts that looked somewhat verbatim elaine gottschall with something new in. the main problem at the moment is that scd is losing ground to an amalgam of of relaxed gfcf and enzymes i can't address this issue from within this board and i am also weary the golden rule of posting is to serve yourself when you post and use it to extend your knowledge otherwise you don't survive

It's sad to think dietary intervention is a foot race or based on fads. Two years ago it was the BED and before that some modifued form of SCD . Some of those who were the most outspoken supporters occasionally ended up with a sicker child or decided to return to SCD. SCD cannot actively aim at conversion of those who want to formulate their own versions of the diet. At Elaine's memorial we were reminded that BTVC has sold over a million copies and is translated into seven languages. Hundreds of testimonials to its success poured in to Elaine's family and people spoke about how their lives were saved by the diet. This group started with just a handful of parents and the diet must have done something right to attract so many. It stands on its own good record and Mimi has stated the case beautifully in her current series of posts. If we expend all our energy trying to be competitive with other diets we lose momentum for advancing SCD. And if someone else finds success with another diet that is not SCD who would deny them that victory? The fact that dietary intervention was discovered to be an aid to treating autism has set us on a path from which there is no turning back. Those that believe in the science behind SCD and are willing to do the work have great hope of success. I am sure that is the aim of people creating other diets, but for me and up to now, SCD has proved to be the real deal! Carol F.
