I know there is no real answer to this question, but we started this

diet on Saturday and the differences are already amazing in my 4 yo ASD

ds. Can it really be from SCD or just coincidence? This morning he was

making up whole stories with cookie cutters with funny voices and

everything. Not even just repeating things he heard elsewhere, but

whole NEW stories. Then he asked what new food we got to try next!! He

has major sensory issues and screamed for 2 hours Saturday because he

couldn't have bread with peanut butter. It has taken a year to get him

to try 3 new foods and now he is ASKING for new things?!?

Then today his aide told me he actually sat down at a table full of

other children and started playing WITH them. Plus, he didn't even ASK

for computer time today, I brought it up at the end of the day (out of

habit, its part of his routine). I am shocked at the changes, could it

really be SCD related? So soon?

I have been " weaning " him from his regular foods for weeks and I

switched his regular home-made yogurt for 24 hr yogurt last week, then

we went full force on the diet on Saturday.

What do you all think?

A lucky few do see immdeiate results and others wihin weks, For some it can take

months.

It depends on the damage to the gut and the individual child's ability to heal.

It also may

be related to the previous diet. You have been weaning child gradually which

means you

did make a form of an early start.

It was thrilling to read your good report! I'm addiing it to success stories I

save and hoping

improvement continues.
