Guest guest
Ok- so here's my story so far: Had the surgery on Tuesday, April 25th. I went through the patient registration and realized after when I looked at my paperwork that they had my birthdate as 1930 (40 years older than I am)! I mean, at 69, I think I'd live with my weight, know what I mean? :0) So then I finally get into the room where I have to go through all of Dr. R's paperwork, and I start reading through the authorization forms and they're for a woman named Judy (I think) Garza. Obviously not me. So that was frustrating, but I didn't take it as a sign or anything. I guess the operation was uneventful. But when I woke up, I was sicker than a dog. I have never been so nauseous in my life! My mom was at my side and told me that it took me a very long time to snap out of it- I was in and out of sleep. When ever I tried to talk I felt like I was going to throw up, but thank God I didn't. That first night was rough, and I remember asking the nurse each time that she came in for my vitals if I could get the leg massagers off and the oxygen tube out of my nose. I was feeling pretty good the next day and left that afternoon for our hotel. I have to laugh when I look at the manual and read about how Dr. R. says you can start strenuous exercise right away, etc. That certainly wasn't the case for me, and I think that that was my expectation. Anyhow, I went home on Sunday, and it wasn't really until today (Wednesday, May 3rd) that I've felt " normal. " I'm able to breathe deeply and cough/hiccup with no pain today. I haven't been sleeping too well, but that's because I always slept on my stomach and now that's a little uncomfortable. I know that will get better. I haven't had a problem " eating, " but I will says that I have never been so thirsty in my life. I absolutely crave a huge ice-cold glass of water. I am always thirsty. Sucking on an " ice " popsicle has helped this. I just hope this doesn't last forever. The good news is that my pre-op weight was 260, and today I weighed in at 237 (23 pounds I won't see again)! I know that this will slow down drastically, but it certainly is positive reinforcement! I remember doing all these ridiculous diets for months and feeling lucky if I lost ten pounds. Never again! So I admit that I am looking forward to " Stage II. " He says that one can progress quickly thought that stage, but I am really going to try to stay on essentially liquids for as long as I can. > Hi I was wondering if anyone has heard how our latest post-ops are doing? Guest guest
Wow. Thanks for posting all this. I didn't think we would have any tubes in our nose coming out of surgery? Did you have something unusual going on or does everybody have an oxygen tube going in their nose? Was it the kind that just sort of sticks into both nostrils or was it down your throat? How long did it take you to wake up from surgery? I'm glad you are doing so well! Keep us posted! Kind regards, > > Hi I was wondering if anyone has heard how our latest post-ops are > doing? Guest guest
Just in the nose. I think it was because it's hard to take a deep breath after the surgery. It took me about an hour after the surgery for them to start trying to wake me up in the recovery room, but honestly I slept most of the day. My mom sad that I was in and out, and I really tried not to talk until that evening, because if I opened my mouth I thought I'd be sick (I didn't even talk to my husband when he called). But the nausea went away by the late evening. > > > Hi I was wondering if anyone has heard how our latest post-ops > are > > doing?
