Is that his first time with the goat yoghurt? How much did he start with? What starter? Guest guest
Hi Shelia, I hope you are feeling better now. I can buy Macadamias, not sure about the others though. Why do you think Josh had the mucous like substance in his stools when I reintroduced the nuts? I thought that the nuts helped to pass out a build of " gunk " which built up while he was not eating them. He has been eating the nuts for approx. 1 week now and the stool smell has reduced & there is no evidence of this mucous substance or undigested food. First time with the yogurt & I started him on Saturday with 1 teaspoon & am now up to 2 teaspoons. I used the Custom Probiotics starter, because getting a starter to South Africa is not easy. How do I know if the yogurt is any good/beneficial? It tastes very sour. Can I flavour it? Thanks > Hi , > > > We cut out pecan nuts for 2 weeks, thinking that they might be > > contributing to my son's " sour " smelling stools & feeding > microbes. > > Result was = his stools lessened (every 2nd day) & became harder, > > BUT the smell did decrease, almost gone. I am feeling quite a bit better than the last few weeks. > I can buy Macadamias, not sure about the others though. I suggested those nuts because you can remove the skins from the nuts before grinding. > Why do you think Josh had the mucous like substance in his stools > when I reintroduced the nuts? The mucous may have been there with the stool he wasn't passing. Or even a reaction to the clearing out that occured with readding the nuts. Nuts can help to clear stuff out - if you are ready for them. It is a good sign that the sour smell is still reducing and that there isn't mucous anymore. > > First time with the yogurt & I started him on Saturday with 1 > teaspoon & am now up to 2 teaspoons. If yes, you can try dripping the yoghurt and/or slowing down on the amounts of yoghurt or cutting back a little. It can cause some die off symptoms (including gas) and slowing or reducing may help with the distention. It sounds as if you are heading in the right direction. I am glad to know that his bowels are continuing to improve with the reintro of nuts and the addition of yoghurt. > How do I know if the yogurt is any good/beneficial? It tastes very > sour. If you used the correct yoghurt cultures, yogurt making directions (24 hrs etc.) and it tastes sour then it should be good > Can I flavour it? Yes, you can add honey fruit, spices etc. Just don't cook it or it will kill the bacteria. Freezing doesn't kill all but many/most of the good bacteria. I make yoghurt smoothies with yoghurt, ripe fruit and honey. Or a bowl of yoghurt with fruit cut up and mixed in. Dripping it will reduce some of the tartness. I also us the yoghurt to make savoury dips and dressing like Marilyn's Ranch dressing. Guest guest
Dear Sheila, Josh has been on the yogurt for 1 week and 2 days now. I started him on 1 teaspoon & increased it to 2 after two days, however, when his tummy became so distended, I decreased back to 1 teaspoon & he is still on 1 teaspoon. His tummy has come down dramatically, probably the lowest it has ever been. His rocking, tantrums, biting hands etc. are still aggravated. Do I leave him on 1 teaspoon for now or do I move up a notch? How much yogurt do you use in the smoothie? If & when you get time, can you plse look at that Word doc I sent re his food & meals per day? I lack idea's & although there are many receipes available, it is not so easy to know where to start. Thanks > Hi , > > > Hi Shelia, > > > > I hope you are feeling better now. > > Thanks.
