Hi ! I'm New....

Hi Everyone ! :0)

My name is , and I live in Palm Bay, Florida. I was

introduced to MGB about two weeks ago, and began the very long

process of research, and for the first time in my life I have hope.

I am a 30 year old married woman with a soon to be 5 year old little

girl. My BMI is 54% I weigh 290lbs and I'm 5'1 " . I have been

heavy all of my life, and so tired of hearing things like... " You

know...you should really apply yourself..maybe then you'll lose the

weight.....Or...You have such a pretty " face " ...like the rest of me

does not exist....or....You just need will power....arrrrrgghhh...I'm

so tired of hearing what everyone " thinks " my problem is. I'm

sorry..i'm getting off on a tangent...hehehe...I really wanted to

introduce myself...tell ya'll a little bit about me and hopefully

enter this incredible support system I have been reading posts on for

the last two weeks.

At the present time I am awaiting insurance approval...like so many

of you. I have Cigna Insurance of Florida and a wonderful PCP. As

a matter of fact, he suggested this surgery a year ago, but I said NO

WAY ...not until i've tried everything else....well..I've now tried

everything else..and I'm desperate. My doctor and the girls in his

office have been so wonderful..they have called Cigna, and even the

doctor himself has got on the phone. He's dictated the letter and

many pages from my file have been faxed to Cigna...apparently..there

is ONE individual that makes the decissions to approve or deny this.

so my fate rests with one individual...I'm praying that God will

guide him to the right decision. If denied, I will begin the

process of appeal. Now from what I am understanding...I think I may

have done things a bit backwards...I think I was suppose to email the

Patient info to Dr.R and they get the approval...so I sent them an

email apologizing if I may have over stepped my bounds...but I

thought perhaps if my PCP that I have been going to for over three

years is referring me to Dr. R...maybe my insurance will see the dire

need I have for this life saving operation.

I read all of your posts and feel the happiness when someone is

approved...or scheduled...or comes thru the surgery well...and I feel

the pain in my heart when someone is denied, or has difficulties...or

in 's case...has passed.

I would like all of you to know that I am here, and I would love to

join your very special group. I am just so amazed at the support

and genuine concern for the groups well being...I feel like for

once...I have found a place that I can " fit " (pun intended).

Thank you for bearing with this long winded post...I promise to keep

it short and sweet next time *S*

~~good luck in gaining your insurance approval. You are VERY lucky in

having the PCP that you have, and by going insurance paperwork ahead of

time, you'll save Debbie alot of work. Hopefully you'll be able to post

your surgery date soon!
