Guest guest
Elicia: Sorry to hear you are having such a time of it right now. Unfortunately I can't really offer any magic bullet for the pain. A heating pad works well, but if the pain is as intense as you say ( i'm sure it is) then the ER may be the best option. Demerol should be helping. If not then call your doc or who ever is on call for your GI and plead your case. Maybe he can phone the ER in advance and talk to the doc about what to give you ( some docs will, some won't) you know to not eat anything and go on the favorite liquid diet to see if things will calm down for you. I hope things get better for you soon. > >Reply-To: pancreatitis >To: pancreatitis >Subject: HELP!!!! >Date: Wed, 01 May 2002 00:57:19 -0000 > >Hey everyone, I am having an awful time right now and ask for your >assistance. Guest guest
Elicia, is right. Unfortunately, there is no magic bullet, but if the pain is that bad, please go to the ER. Even though a liquid diet can help, I have found that when the pain gets that severe, even a bit of water taken with a pain pill will activate the pancreas and slow down the healing process. Remember that pancraetitis is an inflamation of the pancreas and the only way to " uninflmame " it is to not use it. The best way, when it is that severe, is unfortuantely getting into the ER so they can medicate and hydrate you through IV's. Please let us know how you are doing. In my thoughts. Guest guest
Elicia, I'm sorry you are in so much pain. The one thing that I found that makes me feel better is a almost too hot shower. It just calms down my whole body from my mind to the muscles I have tensing up from the pain. I've stood in the shower for over an hour before to escape pain. In fact when they told me in the hospital one time that they couldn't give me anymore demerol I hopped in the shower and felt immediate releif. Sounds silly but thats one of my coping mechanisms. Don't avoid the ER if it gets too bad. No one needs to be in that much pain. I'm thinking of you. Angel > Hey everyone, I am having an awful time right now and ask for your > assistance.
