I gave about 2 inches of it on the first day, and she was gassy. I gave another 2 inches on the second day and she was still gassy. On top of that, she also became less responsive. Guest guest
Hi , > I introduced cooked spinach to my daughter after the intro diet and it > made her extremely gassy. Then I introduced ripe banana and it gave her > gas and her stimming increase. > 1. Does gassiness mean the food is not tolerated and should not be > given anymore? Appearance of gas or increased gasiness would seem to indicate that it is not tolerated yet - as long as there are no other new items (new foods, supplements, meds, possibility of illegals, environmental concerns etc.) > 2. If a particular food keeps appearing undigested in the poop, should > I stop giving it? Or should I puree it and continue to give it? Wait at least a few days before trying pureed. If pureeing after a bad reaction only use a small amount with well tolerated foods at the meal or snack. If it was a bad reaction wait much longer and if tried again definitely puree and start with small amounts. > 3. After I stop giving a not-well-tolerated food, should I wait for a > few days before introducing another new food? How many days should I > wait or should I wait till the gassiness is gone? It depends on your child and the severity of the reaction but usually a few days is fine unless it was a severe reaction with major setbacks. You shouldn't have to wait until all the gasiness is gone - but if the gasiness is worse than the new food may be trouble also. Some kids especially those with yeast problems have trouble with bananas even if ripe - homemade applesauce or pearsauce may be better the banana for her. Keep us updated.
