new to list

Hi everyone. My name is Angie and I just found this list. A little about

myself.....I am 30 years old, married 13 years to a police officer. I have 2

daughters (12 and 8) and a son who will be 1 on June 2. I have been overweight

since giving birth to my first child in 1987. Before I got pregnant I weighed

135 and after I weighed 200. I stayed there until I got pregnant in 1990, after

my second child was born in 1991 I got up to 235. In 1996 I lost down to 190 but

gained it back with the birth of my son last year. I now weigh 232 and I am 5'3 "

(BMI 41). I am a nurse and also an EMT. I have been thinking of WLS for a while

now and been doing some research. I am now working on finding an insurance

company that will pay. If not I will have to save and save and save. I will soon

be going to work full now (right now I work part time) and I am hoping the ins

there will be THE ONE! Its called Great Western..anyone used this company

before? I am planning to have the surgery done in Little Rock Arkansas. I keep

reading about " Dr R " ...who and where is he, he seems to be the DR everyone is

using.

I have been reading the post from today (I just got home from work) and you guys

all seem so close and caring. Phone calls and visits. Who could ask for more :-)

Well. I have to share something (might as well jump right in and share with soon

to be friends..right!! )I am in a pretty good mood tonight. At work I did a

survey about the surgery and my weight. I asked everyone what they thought about

WLS and they were all pretty much " for it " but they all said I would not be a

candidate because I was not at least 100 pounds overweight so that lead to

another survey...I asked " What do you think I weigh? " I went around the building

asking everyone and told them be honest. I made them all answer before I gave

them the right answer. ALL of them said numbers between 170 to 180. That blew my

mind and they all thought I was lying so I had to get on the scales to prove it.

Kinda made my night!! :-)

Well I had a long shift so I'm off to bed. Be back in the morning.
