Guest guest
Hi Claire, The main treatments would be antibiotics or accutane. Both can have a good anti-inflammatory response and reduce the acne lesions. For me, I always approached my rosacea as if it was just red-acne. I do flush but in subtle ways that do not bother me. I also found that protecting, soothing and gentle cleansing of my skin helped the other treatments to work i.e. they helped the antibiotics to break the acne cycle. A sunscreen everyday really helped me as well - I use Sy's ZincO everyday. Metronidazole in the form of metrogel/metrocream/metrolotion/noritate does help many people with the acne component. It is not a success for all, but it is my opinion that it is definitely worth trying. The rosacea-ltd disks are another on my list of things that have worked well for me. They seem to constrict and kind of dry out the acne lesions. Use very sparingly for best results. There are great messages on all these topics in the list highlights - I hope that they help. Guest guest
HI, I've had 5 photoderm treatments with good results, although I'm still fighting the papules (red bumps). Photoderm decreased the papules, but hasn't eliminated them. I played tennis yesterday and woke up with several papules. I've tried oral antibiotics & topicals like Metrogel, Klaron, differin to stop the papules all without substantial effect. Anybody have some suggestions? What about low dose Accutane? My derm claims that his patients haven't had much success with it. Thank you
Guest guest
Metrogel stopped working on my acne rosacea. So my derm switched me to CleocinT. It's a clyndamyacin topical and you have a choice of gel, lotion or pledgets (towelettes). I'm using the towelettes as it's less wait time for it to soak in. I've been using it for 3 months with excellent results. > > HI, > > > I've had 5 photoderm treatments with good results, although I'm still > fighting the papules (red bumps). Guest guest
I had the same problems, even after 6 photoderm treatments I still had the acne problem. I tried mincycline but it made me WAY too spacey, even when I only took 50mg every other day! I'm using the cea LTD discs now and my skin is completely clear. (I learned about them from this list!) My skin looks great. Kelley --- pjchristo pjchristo@...> wrote: > > HI, > > > I've had 5 photoderm treatments with good results, > although I'm still > fighting the papules (red bumps). Guest guest
Hi , not Granny here, but have lots of experience with acne. It turns out since developing full blown graves (or hashitoxicosis or whatever the heck it is that I have) that I break out with horrible acne all the time - that is until I found out what foods were causing me to break out. What I had to do was called an elimination diet - where for 3 weeks I eliminated all kinds of things that are common to cause reactions - corn, wheat, dairy, citrus, tomatos, peanuts, etc etc. Then, once the three weeks was done (and my face was also cleared up), one at a time I would add the foods back in and see what happened. What happened was ugly - so it turned out that MY acne was being caused by food allergies. Hope that is not what it is for you - like maybe it's just the Prempro? - but it's not uncommon for people to develop food allergies with this disease Welcome to the board, you've found a wonderful support group here! Thanks, Elaine Corn is the worst, chocolate is next, then peanuts, then citrus and tomatoes and watermellon is/was a problem too. However, citrus/tomatoes are no longer a problem since I started doing NAET - have not made it to the others yet, but NAET is working like a charm. Have not tried watermellon yet either, though I'm thinking that is probably ok now too. Pam B.

Guest guest
Hi Jen, How are you " consuming " the flaxseeds? I was grinding them in a coffee grinder and mixing them in with oatmeal for awhile... but lately have just been doing a high lignan flaxseed oil in my smoothies. Am always on the lookout for something new... Pam B.

Guest guest
regarding acne, I don't reallly have that problem, but I did start consuming 1/4 cup of ground flax seed every morning for breakfast and I cannot beleive how great my skin is, I have people commenting every day how great my skin is, and I am not using foundation anymore. I do have brown blotches that are fading and I don't feel like I need to cover them up. Also, the flax brought down my cholestoral about 100 points, and boy oh boy am I regular.....(start with one tablespoon a day for about 3 weeks then add another working your way up to 1/4 cup, or you will be excusing yourself to flatulate) Jen

Guest guest
I grind the flax seed in a coffee grinder and mix with oatmeal, or yogurt, or fresh peaches. I haven't done the flax oil's , I haven't looked into them, I just know I have had great results with the ground seed, I like it being a food, and not just a supplement.
