Guest guest
HI Margie, The only nausea I experienced was in the hospital and it was because of my dry mouth and throat, I couldn't produce any saliva (weird, huh). Anyway, had alot of acid reflux the first day but that passed once Dr R told me to nibble on a saltine to soak up the acid. I'm not much for yogurt or jello. I found an incredible frozen bar at Wal-Mart super center. It's made by Blue Bunny and it's made with whey protein, nonfat milk and no sugar added. It is fat free and has 60 calories and 4 grams of protein. It comes in fudge and vanilla swirl and fudge and it is fantastic!! I get in about 200-300 calories now; but I have to STOP counting calories (old habits die hard!!). I keep forgetting I have 6 ft of bypassed intestines! I feel better everyday and am getting more and more energy. Take care and good luck on your journey! God Bless, > Dear , > > 15# in 10 days! Wow! Thats wonderful! Guest guest
Hi Margie, I'm not a Nurse yet; I'm a full time Nursing student though. From my understanding, Dr. R bepasses the duodenum and jejenum (the first loop at the bottom of the stomach) and then he goes down and pulls up about 5-6 feet of small intestines and there is where he connects the newly formed stomach pouch. He has diagrams and a video on his web site explaining this process. By doing the bypass you don't absorb as much fat or calories(or nutrients) from the foods you eat; I think around 20-30% absorption rate; because that part that is bypassed is where a lot of absorption takes place once it passes from the stomach. It's a win/win situation; you eat much less (around 3-4 oz) and you don't absorb all of the fat and calories from what you do eat!! You gotta love it!!!!! Hope this helps! > , > > Thanks for the info. hey?
