If so, should I take away the homemade applesauce and home- squeezed apple juice? Is increase in tummy size normal? How long before it gets better? Her diet now consists only of boiled chicken, chicken broth, green beans, eggs, home-squeezed and sieved apple juice (diluted), homemade applesauce. If I take the apples away, she won't have any carb! She won't have anything to drink either since she doesn't like water. Please help. Any suggestions will be much appreciated. It's really painful to see her bloated tummy and dark circles and tantrums.
Guest guest
What about carrots and squash? One of the squashes ( " cinderella " aka Long Island Cheese squash) made my son's belly bloat up and it also gave him diarrhea. He's okay with butternut, though. We're practically living off of carrots right now as far as carbs go - at least for that child, the rest of us are okay with foods that he can't handle (I'm trying to delay the fruit this time as well). He didn't handle the green beans well either, or the tomatoes that I tried last night. I think the big belly could be a sign that some particular food isn't being digested well. Guest guest
Whoops, I was thinking that that didn't sound right! LOL. We're also having honey - mixed into carrots and squash and gelatin - along with grape juice gelatin, and he can do the zucchini. So, carrots aren't his sole carb, but they are his main carb right now, until we find more things that he can handle. He's not ASD, but is a true celiac. Steph " What about carrots and squash? Guest guest
Hi , > Her tummy is getting bigger and circles under the eyes seem darker. > She's also wanting to eat all the time. The increased appetite is normal when starting the diet. >Is it yeast? Could it be > phenol? The bloated tummy and dark circles could be die off and/or yeast. I haven't heard of phenol problems causing bloating (but it may be just unreported), but yes to the dark circles. If so, should I take away the homemade applesauce and home- > squeezed apple juice? > Is increase in tummy size normal? How long before it gets better? Bloating isn't normal. If bloated it would seem to indicate something isn't tolerated. > Her diet now consists only of boiled chicken, chicken broth, green > beans, eggs, home-squeezed and sieved apple juice (diluted), homemade > applesauce. Since you had trouble with spinach, bananas, and now applesauce , apple juice (made at home) and green beans it is very hard to tell which of these may be causing trouble. The best thing to do is go back to the intro for another day or two to get things under control and then add foods very slowly one at a time. You can use welch's grape juice (diluted) on the intro besides apple cider. If you think phenols may be a problem you can try double peeling the apples before juicing them. Most phenolic compounds are closest to the peels. Let me know how she is doing. Sheila
