Guest guest
Dear , It was so good to hear from you, and know that you're doing so well. You and your family are in my prayers. I know what you mean about it being a relief and sad at the same time. Give Tony a hug for being such a great husband! You'll be in my heart. Blessings, ~Amy. _____________________________________________ Amy S. Poe MGB 5/22/2000 280/140 United Healthcare Select Plus POS approved --1 week Post op This time last week, I was waiting to go to surgery, filling out that damned consent form! I have had a great week and a super recovery. In many ways, I don' t feel like anything has been done. Dr. R stood me up yesterday to get my staples out. He told me the morning after surgery to come to the clinic on Tuesday at the office. No clinic! It was ok, just a small glitch! Tony (dh) took the staples out last night with two kids watching (one giving me a hug after every staple came out) the other wanting a turn to TAKE the staples out and the third son in another room saying, OH THAT IS SO GROSS!!! (No we don't think he will turn out to be a doctor!) I am drinking, still not sure how much I SHOULD be drinking, but drinking alot and eating yogurt, and soup. I have to watch amounts. I want more than I probably should have, not out of hunger, out of pleasure of the taste. No pain, but just FULL! No complications that I know of except trying to figure out how much to eat. The cravings are back, but not terribly strong, mainly I just want to sit down and eat a meal instead of slurping everything. Can't imagine drinking for two months at this point, but we will see! I would like to do it that way. It is hard to get all the medicines etc in so that is a little frustrating. Weight loss 10 lbs at one week! Not bad, (I was hoping for 150)!!! Finally, my father-in-law is dying he is in the last stages of altzheimers so it is a blessing even though very sad. We are probably leaving for Cincinnati today or tomorrow. Guest guest
, Thanks so much for the update! I know I can always rely on your posts to be thorough and thoughtful. I'm glad your week has gone well -- it's weird but it's seems like more than one week since you had surgery!! Two weeks to go until mine!! I'm getting excited and nervous (and wanting to just get it over with and be " on the other side. " ) As for the cravings. . . are you still craving sweet things? That is a big problem of mine, and I'm hoping this surgery will zap the sweet tooth monster. How much of it do you think is physiological versus psychological? In other words, I'm sure there is an adjustment period where your " habits " are trying to adjust to your new physiology, and your head may still be wanting to do that habitual eating that your body USED to tell it to do. Does that convoluted statement make any sense at all? :-) You can tell it's the end of the semester and I just finished grading all my students' exams. . . . I think my brain is fried. Guest guest
Dear , So glad to hear that you are doing so well. Wow, what family support with all the help removing the staples. My Hubby would have passed smooth out. Tell Tony I said " What a man!!!! " I'm sure my two sons-in-law would be glad to remove staples but they would probably use a dremel tool. Ha Ha. Sorry to hear about your father-in-law. It's so hard to watch our parents go through this even though it means no more suffering. We lost my Mother and Randy's Father within one day of each other. It was so hard but such a blessing to see their suffering end. You and Tony are in my prayers. Let us know how you are doing as soon as you get back. Have a safe trip.
