Hello again! I am one of the newbies to this site. I read every day but

don't post often. I am still looking for contacts. I still need 8 more. I

am trying to use email for most of my contacts as it is free and I need to

save all my money for travel expenses for when my time comes. You notice I

said when and not if, I am trying to keep a positive attitude. I had

started my wls journey trying to get an open RNY, which is the only

procrdure that they perform in my state. No one does lap by pass in

Michigan. I found out I couldn't have open Rny because of previous hiatal

hernis repair. The Dr. that performed my hernia repair said I could have a

lap bypass if i could find someone who was familiar with the type of hernia

repair I had. Well thank the lord that man is Dr. R!!! Anyway i guess

someone forgot to tell the insurance worker at Bariatric Treatment Centers

not to send in for insurance approval. So I got a call last week saying I

was approved for the open RNY!!! I didn't know whether to be upset or

happy. I am preferring to look at like the insurance company will have to

approve me for Dr. R procedure also since it is cheaper and less invasive

with fewer side effects. I called the insurance co (BC/ BS of mich) and

told them I couldn't have the open RNY because of previous surgery and that

was why two different places were applying for a wls approval. I didn't

want them to think that some thing was fishy. So wish me luck everyone.

Sorry about always writing such long posts, just had to get it all out. Bye

for now

from Michigan

Dear , I don't post often but I read it all. Your story

was heartbreaking, but your presentation was brilliant. It's total

ignorance on the part of the Ins co's not to understand the long term

costs for them in the long run. I guess we have made some strides

because I remember not that many years ago they would walk into your

office or home carrying a scale. If we were over a certain weight we

were denyed. Now thats humiliation. None of us chose to be heavy, nor

do we chose to remain heavy. There is not one redeeming quality to being

obese. I know this only too well. I am gong to be 48 and I can count on

one hand how many of those years I have spent thin. I have a tentative

date of June l for my surgery with Dr R. With alittle luck you'll be

there too! Best wishes and luck, I know this will happen for you!

Susie

Dear Trisha, I do believe we will be littermates. My date

according to my Ins Co. is also June l. I can't believe it myself. I

left a voice message with Dr r's office and I hope Barbara will call me

back with the good news. My twins were born in July and July was always

a happy lucky month for me so I am more than ecstatic. My husband who I

adored, died last December from Cancer. Oh how he would have loved to

have seen me get and stay thin. But if I know him he'll be peeking over

those clouds. Just alittle Bio : I am 47 soon to be 48 in August, 5'4 " ,

310lbs. This surgery can't happen soon enough. My beautiful 19 year

old twin boys are rooting me on, now that they know this is what I want

more than anything else right now. Tell me about you and I will see you

on June 1st. My husband Marty and I were in Vegas twice a year for the

past 5 years. He manufactured sexy lingerie. Can you imagine all these

years I could never wear it for him, and now it just may happen. He

would have had me on the cover of his catalogues if I looked good in his

stuff. Life is funny isn't it? Ok speak to you soon. Susie
