Deena:

Adding on to where you left off about telling relatives about the surgery.

I told my parents long ago I was going to have this done. My Mother showed

no interest.

While I was home last month for a wedding, My Mom brought the subject up. I

told her that I was approved and was having the operation when I return to

North Carolina following the wedding.

I've shared all the paper work from Dr. R with my parents and sister. All

I've ever gotten is " you can lose weight, you can diet, you just eat too

much " etc. Tell that to someone who's addicted to food, or cigars, or booze

or sex. It's not easy just to DIET!.

The operation is passed and the weight is melting off me faster than I

expected. I feel great and I just can't wait until I see my relatives again.

Will they notice?

Tom:

My daughters (18& 19) told me they were talking about my surgery. One told the

other can you imagine if we didn't see her very often and we came home and there

was this strange woman in our house. Oh, my gosh. I would ask dad is this my

new step-mom? I thought it was funny, and enjoyed them sharing it with me.

Your family will be shocked. Best of luck when that does happen.

Dear Tom,

How great you must be feeling. I am so proud of your progress. I'm still

pre-op

but I am really interested in your stats. Your surgery date, starting weight,

current weight,

what you are able to eat, etc....... It's good to see you guys go for the

surgery too. Let me know how it's been so far. By the way, when are you going to

be seeing the family? I wish I could be there to see the looks on their

faces....... fun time...

Best Wishes,

Genz ( Genzel )
