Many people come from all over the country and some from out of the country to have him perform the surgery here. If you haven't read his web site, I suggest you start there, lots of great info. clos.net. Good luck! OA is a very important part of my history, and I consider it part of my journey. I actually lost 100 lbs in OA in the early 80's. I learned so much there about healing my self esteem. I think I came into OA thinking I was the most horrible, overweight thing that ever lived and I DO believe in much of the program. But... only part of this disease is emotional. Even OA says that recovery is a three legged stool, emotional, spiritual and physical. After a time, I regained the weigh. I attended meeting regularly for 10 years. BUT.. I attended alot of those very fat! I haven't been to a meeting in years, but I still care very much about some of the people I met there and have never regretted the time I spent in those meetings. All that helped to bring me to this place now, ready for surgery and trusting God for a great result! Guest guest
Dear , Thanks for your honesty. Although OA did not help me, I have attended other 12 step groups over the years including Alanon and Families Anonymous and they have helped me greatly on my journey in this life. I just hope that I can get this MGB soon, so that I can continue in health AND painfree. I do believe Morbid Obesity is a disease that requires medical intervention. We're not talking 30 or 40 or 50 lb. for which I believe a program such as OA could be very beneficial. JMHO P. in GA .. Since I was approved I have been walking around thinking to myself--am I sure I want to give up my coffee and coke? So you are saying that you don't even really crave them anymore? I always want something to sip on at night like a coke. How hard was this for you to get through? BTW everyone I overnighted my package to Dr. R today, is there anyone else out there that is going to request the first week in June?
