Guest guest
My daughter has been on SCD now for 7 weeks and we are still struggling with constipation, major sleep problems and eating issues. We will hang in there if it takes longer, what have people's experiences been with the time frame of these things improving? She is eating pureed pears, pureed avocados and pureed organic chicken. Drinking organic chicken broth. She is getting calcium citrate 800mg/day ( I know this may be an issue but what else can I do, she's 16 months old and she needs calcium). She is getting magnesium glycinate (400mg/day), doesn't seem to tolerate the magnesium citrate--aggravated her reflux? She's on Diflucan, getting EFA's, SCDophilus, and melatonin. We just started her on low dose naltrexone. She is still on Prevacid, I know this can be a problem too but her reflux is so bad that if we take her off she really won't eat and we can't afford that. I feel like I am stuck in the vicious cycle (no pun intended) and can't get out? Please help me understand this????? Does it just need more time???? We are getting no sleep and really starting to lose it-- Thanks,
Guest guest
Just wanted to let you know. We're experiencing many of the same issues. We've been doing SCD for six months. One child is doing dynamite and the other is doing poorly. Still have sleep, constipation and little behavior gains. He just must have such a leaky gut things must need more time to heal. I'm hoping. I've heard from most others miracles of this diet and I see it with my daughter!!! Maybe someone with more experience will respond with a better answer. , mom to Cameron 4 and Peyton 23 months

Guest guest
, Sorry I haven't been online in a few days. For constipation we use magnesium. We've tried Magnesium taurate, but had more success with magnesium citrate. Though I've read that some think citrate may feed yeast. All I know its a God send for Cameron. We give him 1.5 capsules two times per day, plus one tsp. cod liver oil and a vitamin c. We've had to use suppisitories and enemas on and off in his life. For sleep, we did nothing for first three and half years. We've tried melatonin and have great success to get him to fall asleep. However, it does not do a good job keeping him asleep. We are now using an herb called Valerian, which does keep him asleep MOST of the time. Others are using a prescription drug called Remeron which was awesome for both falling asleep and keeping him asleep (we tried a few days after borrowing a few pills from a friend). We may end up with this drug but are trying what we're doing first. Hope this is helpful. What have you been doing for these issues if anything?
