No, Have I had someone else (other than a doctor take mine out) yes. I cannot reccomend that approach however sometimes we " have to take things into our own hands " so to speak. Tell your people at work that you've got to get a half day, or day, whatever you need, OFF! That your health is at stake and if you can't get the time off to get this taken care of, you may end up back in the hospital for an extended period of time battling with the infection and who knows what other problems the thing may be causing. It's a choice of a day now or weeks later on when the infection lands you in the hospital again (something I know you want to avoid). I used to tell my job that with my previous employer.
