The nausea is always with me, sometimes it's pretty low key or comes in waves with decent times in between so I can still accomplish things at work and at home during the day. Other days, like today, it is so bad I have to lay down until it settles down some, which can take hours. I am really sick and incapacitated during these times. I am trying to eat as blandly as possible, but the sickness doesn't seem to be connected to what I'm eating. The worst onsets of being sick have occurred after I've eaten something, in the morning when I haven't eaten anything, and in between meals. There doesn't seem to be any pattern. I know from talking to other people on the MGB Onelist who have had the MGB that this is not the norm. What I desperately need to know is if any other person has had the same experience I'm having almost six weeks after the MGB; if so, how long did it last; and is there anything I can do for it? Guest guest
ElsbethLiz: Sorry to hear you feel so bad. I agree that you need to talk to Dr. R. But one other thought. Could this be as a result of a medication that you are currently taking or not taking? Many meds have nausea as a side effect. I remember starting on Prozac and being nauseated for about 6 weeks until I adjusted to it, then when I went off of it at a later date, I again had nausea. Just a thought to check your meds. Guest guest
Muffy, I am so sorry. Have you had any anti nausea drugs prescribed for you (vistaril, compazine, vesprin)? Maybe they could help you get through this difficult time. I sincerely hope it is a passing thing, it must be very frustrating. fg At 05:48 AM 05/04/2000 -0400, you wrote: >Hey Everyone, > >Muffy Kerber checking in again. Guest guest
<< I'm struggling with a lot of nausea. >> Hey, kiddo! When I was nauseous, I found out that there were two problems: I was drinking plain water and I wasn't getting enough potassium/salt. When you can, use V8 juice (lots of potassium!) and chicken bouillon WITH salt. Our bodies need the potassium ion (old clinic presentation from Dr. R ) and we can only get stronger and stay comfortable as long as our veins can circulate nutrients efficiently. The most important part of that equation is potassium; it keeps our veins open and the circulation of nutrients flowing smoothly. When I was nauseous, I sipped V8 juice, chicken bouillon, a saltine or two...and I laid down afterward to allow it to stay in my stomach longer. Anyone gets nauseous when he/she drinks lots of plain water on an empty stomach...and that little tidbit wasn't made clear to me until I complained to my PCP about my nausea after the MGB. He was great! He said pe ople don't realize how common that is when drinking plain water. So, find yourself stuff with potassium: V8 juice, Gatorade, chicken bouillon, etc. Watch out for the sugar content; make sure that you aren't getting more than a 10-15 count on the sugars. If the container lists more than that, then mix it half-and-half with plain water or REAL fruit or veggie juice. Final suggestion: Juiceman appliance gave me a lot of nutrition with NO nausea during the first three months after the MGB. I juiced EVERYTHING I could get my hands on. No nausea! Guest guest
Dee, Do you make the green drink with your juicer? It sounds yukky but is really good and not a stroong flavor easy on your tummy. I know you cant drink this much at one time but you can sip it. 1 celery stalk, 2 romaine lettuce leafs, 5 pieces of fresh spinach, 1 small bunch of parsley..after you juice you can a salt or other seasoning you like. If you do not have a juicer you can put these ingredients in a blender fill 1/3 water and blend (strain if you like) This is a wonderful way to start the day it helps detoxify you r body..A question Is everyone taking minerals? I never hear anyone talk about minerals. Vitamins absorb much better if you are taking minerals. well I will stop rambling Trisha Lanman praying Dr. R. will help me to the other side soon!!!
