Guest guest
Hi Tracey, welcome to the forum. My name is Pamela and I am 5 weeks post op. I went through KP Richmond with Dr. Park being my primary physician; assisted by Dr. Baggs. I had surgery on Feb 8th and was released on Feb 9th. The surgery was the best thing I could have ever done. I am enjoying life to the fullest now. I have 37 more pounds to go to get to my goal. I started this process at the end of October and I have lost 82.5 pounds total, 27 prior to surgery. I can't complain. Just take things slow and follow the Dr.'s orders. I wish you well as you begin this new journey. We are all here to support you. Pam Marsh --- da6bearz da6bearz@...> wrote: > HI All, > > Ok lets say I've had the surgery what should I > expect. Guest guest
I had open RNY in August of 2003. I stayed in the hospital for 2 days. I had alot of pain, but the pain meds worked, so as long as I took it on schedule I was fine. You will feel tired for the first few weeks. I was out of work for 4 weeks but wish I would have taken 6. I work with children and all the up and down movement really hurt my first week or so back. You probably wont notice a major change for about a month or so. When I came back to work after 4 weeks, my co workers could tell. My eating habits in the very beginning were: protein protein protein. For breakfast I would have maybe 1/2 a srambled egg. Lunch was cottage cheese. Dinner was whatever meat hubby cooked. I didnt puree my food. My surgeon wanted us to eat as normal as possible so I chewed chewed chewed. I kept the little cups they gave me in the hospital to measure out my food. As I got farther out I used the 4 oz gladware containers and at first only filled it half way. Then as I got a little farther out I would loosely fill it up. I still dont do white chicken, like the breast very well, too dry. Guest guest
LTLJSMOM--OK, I'm not , but I had open WLS surgery too. I feel that my scar is much less noticeable than all the fat I'm getting rid of. Besides, I never plan to model in the nude, except to my hubby, who loves me, scars and all! I've got 3 major scars: open heart surgery from 1970, hysterectomy from December, 2001 and WLS June 3, 2004. Even my smallish open heart surgery scar has faded somewhat, but it will always be with me, and I don't mind. --Sandi > Hi , > > I saw that you had open. How is your scar? Is it very large? Guest guest
Thanks for the info Sandi, I completely agree any scar is going to be much more attractive than all this fat I have! I was just curious. LTLJSMOM From: Sandi H. Guest guest
My scar is exactly 6 inches as promised, I measured it. It has faded to an almost natural skin tone color for me. Its not bad at all. I mean it is noticeable but not horrible. Now my tummy tuck scar which goes hip to hip makes me kinda look like a volkswagon. LOL Huggles > > Hi , > > > > I saw that you had open.
