Guest guest
, I would definitely keep taking it while on your fast. It will help keep your metabolism where it needs to be while your body is cleansing. Your metabolism will naturally slow down on a fast anyway. If it helps, you can think of your Armour thyroid as replacing something that would be there normally and not allow your metabolism to get too sluggish. And another important aspect....if you let the tablet dissolve under your tongue instead of swallowing it, the thyroid hormone will bypass the digestive system and go directly into your tissues, thereby keeping your fast completely on target. If you are already quite thin and don't want to keep your metabolism too revved up, you could perhaps cut your dose in half. I'll be doing some fasting also. With my son home, we've done a little eating out, and I've managed to eat too much gluten...and I can tell big time. Yeccch. Good luck onyour fast! Guest guest
Thanks Patty. My metabolism is slow, I am about 30 pounds overweight, so that is good to know. I will stay on it during the fast, and yes I do take it under my tongue, dissolved. My current prescription is 1 grain, which comes in one pill. Do you know if I can cut them in half and take 1/2 grain each day? I heard that the half life of Armour is short and is best taken in divided doses twice per day, but I'm not sure if it is OK to cut the actual pills in half--or if I need to ask my doctor to write a new script for 1/2 grain tablets, which I can then take twice per day that way? My doc might not want to write it that way. He is traditional, and it was a bit of a push to even convince him to write the Armour script in the first place. Best wishes with your fast also. Guest guest
, You can use a pill splitter and safely cut each pill in half for a half dose. I have done that. Also, if you are interested, I have purchased both 1/2 grain and 1 grain pills myself. If you want to know more, please write me privately.
