Guest guest
My son has been on SCD for 8 months now. HIs history was chronic ear infections, 13 antibiotics (and I didn't know anything about probiotics) and as a result chronic yeast with dbms 8-10 times per day. The yeast shows as a severe diaper rash that blisters and bleeds if BM is left in contact with the skin too long and possibly an increase in temper tantrums. He is not on the spectrum and shows typical development. His old pediatrician suggested that we potty train him so that the bm would not stay in contact with his bottom. :-( But that does not fix the problem. He is almost potty trained and has bms 2-3 times per day that are now normal consistancy. On SCD he had an almost immediate responce with die off and then with 2 weeks talking more and was less irritable. He has been doing wonderful on the diet. We used garlic, digest, candidase and probiotics with the diet. We still continue the digest and probiotics. My question is....how long does it take to get rid of the yeast and restore the gut to a " normal " state??? I know that Caden will never be able to go back to the sugar, white bread and cookie times but my hope is that he can return to fairly normal diet soon. How do you know when it is the right time to add some things back into the diet to see if he will tolerate and digest it?? My husband and I have been very strict on the diet and have been talking about adding things back into his diet. Then last night, daddy gave him a few french fries with ketchup and today he has a mild diaper rash after he had a bm and there were peas undigested in it. He has not had undigested food in his bm for 6 months!!! The other that that has happened yesterday morning is that he had an allergic reaction (rash on face with puffy eyes) after eating eggs for the first time (he did test positive for a mild egg whote allergy 8 months ago then negative 5 months ago). So... I don't know if it is the eggs of the french fries or both. Thanks for your time! andrea mother of Caden SCD 8 months, chrinic yeast and Emmalynn 9.5 months old
