Guest guest
I once got into an argument with a young lady, boy did she attack. It was also in a place that had nothing to do with health, perse. After enduring much in the way of personal attack, and being made out to be a liar for saying that this special diet and enzymes were healing and already cured of us of some of our problems, well, blah blah, all these people told me there is no such thing as " curing " or " healing " autism and related disorders through diet. And guess what. Most of the people in the conversation were people who have learned nothing about nutrition and do not think for themselves when it comes to the advice of their doctor, believing only one thing to be true. The main gal who attacked me is in vaccine research and development, and had " studied " the issues of vaccine induced illness and it is all hogwash. As a musician, I was attacked, for not being smart enough to ever be a doctor (watch who you are talking to, she was saying this to someone who sustained a 4.0 in college, and has been working on nutritional studies for years). I guess the point I am trying to make to you Carol, you just can't win, you can't defend something against ignorance. You really have no idea who you were talking to, just like me. When I found out this lady was in " vaccine research and development " I was like " ah ha " . She is benefited by publicly nailing people like myself against the wall, to prove her point. My point, SCD saved us when there was nothing, no pill, no therapy that would ever do it. Call me a liar...I don't care, my children speak, can use the potty, do not have stomach pains, etc. These people just cannot see through their limited life experience to understand anything else. It's okay though. Let these people drain each other and not you! I am sorry this happened, and boy can I sympathize with you. Sometimes the toughest journey is not the medicene, its acceptance from others. Guest guest
My adversary was far from ignorant. Her main objection was my saying all celiacs should avoid corn, rice and soy as well as refined sugar. She has a friend who follows a GF diet and has done well and I acknowledged that there are such people. In her most recent post she did find areas of agreement but felt she was not being unreasonable to point out the attitude of the medical community and she also said she felt the diet could help certain people but not all and I'll grant her that. She was extremely intelligent and apparently well educated in gastric illness but kept demanding scientific proof which she felt I was unable to supply. It wore me out and even depressed me because for five years I have seen so much good as the results of those following SCD, the adults and ASD children. Elaine had this rejection happen so often for nearly forty years and warned me about it, but until now, I never let it get to me. A woman just called as I was composing this message to enroll in the Toronto SCD cooking classes. She has Crohns and started SCD a month ago and has been pain free the whole time and it's the first time in years. It was very uplifting and redeeming to have this happen when the rest of the day had been so disturbing because of the OP. It is those calls and testimonials that make this so worthwhile. Thank you Gertrude (Summer) for all your educated contributions to this list We better move on so we can get better:-) Carol F.
