Guest guest
Adam, I don't think it matters which antihistamine you take. Some work for some folks and some do not. Try the Clariton, if it doesn't help, try another brand. There are many on the market. I tried Zyrtec but it made me so sleepy that I had to give it up. (It is not supposed to cause drowsiness, but it did with me.) Antihistamines > Sorry for All the posts today everyone, I promise this is my last one I've been trying lots of different things recently to reduce the swelling in my cheeks. (Lymphomax, Pycnogenol, Grape Seed, etc) with not too much success. After showing my doctor the section in Dr. Nase's book about Zyrtec and antihistamines, he decided to write me a prescription for an antihistamine to see if that might help. My question isthat in Dr. Nase's book the Only Antihistamine he mentions that might help cea is Zyrtec, and because its less-sedating, My doctor decided to write me a prescription for Claritin instead. Is there any possible diference between the two as far as how they might help cea? or would they both help equally as much? > Thanks! > Adam > > >
Guest guest
This is too funny, I had to respond. I broke out in hives and had tried to take benadryl to get rid of them. Not only weren't they going away, but the benadryl was making my stomach upset, and making me fall asleep. So the doctor prescribed zyrtec - one a day for 7 days. I react very strongly to any medication. I tell all the doctors this, but they usually don't believe me, and even if they do, they say that whatever they're prescribing doesn't cause a reaction. I had told this doctor that I had taken the liquid benadryl because I could control how much I was using. I was still in college, so I couldn't be drowsy! He promised me the zyrtec wouldn't make me go to sleep. He was right! I took 1 zyrtec and was up for 36 straight hours! I was so wired I could barely close my eyes to blink! It did clear up my hives in the first pill, but yikes! I have since discovered that if I take a 1/4 of the zyrtec, then it works on my allergy symptoms (I have strange allergies). Isn't it funny how different people react so differently to the same medication? > Adam, I don't think it matters which antihistamine you take. Some work for > some folks and some do not. Guest guest
Hi all. I think that jhelli1 meant to send this to everyone. I'm glad you're going to an allergist! I don't think that sudafed is good for long-term use! Guest guest
FWIW, Sudafed is a decongestant, not an anti-histamine. Sudafed would be the correct thing to use before a flight or 20-30 min prior to descent. jk | Hi all. I think that jhelli1 meant to send this to | everyone. | | I'm glad you're going to an allergist! Guest guest
I think you're right. I bought what I thought was the generic Target brand for Sudafed. It's called Dephedryl, an antihistamine with diphenhydramine hydrochloride as the active ingredient. What I bought is comparable to Benadryl, not Sudafed. Sorry about the confusion. > | > Date: Sat, 17 Nov 2001 19:10:40 -0000 > | > From: jhelli1@y... > | > To: matthea_gans@y... > | > Subject: Re: Antihistamines > | > > | > Hi! I just joined this board.
