Guest guest
My son Connor, age 6 1/2 and on SCD for 18 1/2 months now, is having some sort of issue, although I don't know exactly what is going on. He started refusing some foods about 3 weeks ago and his list has slowly grown. Over the last 5 days he has dropped the last few foods he would eat. Now he's down to nothing. Every meal he seems hungry, and I say ok, what would you like to eat? We go over the possibilities and there are SO MANY, but he doesn't want any of them. Finally I get him to say ok to something and we make it. He helps. Then he takes a bite and says he likes it! YIPPEE! but then he eats another bite and maybe another and he's done. He sits there and he really looks done. Like he feels sick almost. He doesn't even act hungry. Connor typically gets really constipated but the funky thing is that he hasn't been for the past month. He's been much more normal. He isn't bloated at all. I can't imagine NOT being constipated is the problem! Could it be? Connor has severe sensory issues. He eats only pureed foods, like baby food level of puree, very smooth, or soft foods like muffins or pancakes. That's it. He isn't into real crunchy. He doesn't like gooey or soggy. All his pureed and soft foods he won't eat. I am presently listening to my blender make almond milk, hoping he'll drink some of that. What is the recipe for " formula " ? I'm doing honey, almonds, water... Is there more than that in the formula? My BTVC book is lent out to someone right now. I have to get something into him as he is very medically fragile with epilepsy, hypoglycemia, trach/vent/oxygen etc.. and super tiny for his age. We have checked his blood sugars and kept his sugar up by squirting honey in his mouth when his sugar is too low. He is drinking diluted juice (50% welch's white grape/50% water right now to keep his sugar up,typically we water it down significantly more!). Any help is appreciated! Thank you!
