Guest guest
Dear Ginny, Take a copy of your patient manual to him (maybe even ahead of your appt. date and let him read the information). Then when you talk to him he will at least be familiar with the procedure. If you are well informed also, you may be able to overcome his initial hesitation to support the procedure. If he is adamant against it, find another PCP who will support you. My PCP was already supportive of the procedure because several nurses at our hospital had the procedure done in VA. Another local doctor who saw in the ER took a copy of my manual, called Dr. R to consult about and told him she was a family practitioner who had several patients she thought would be good candidates......I think if our PCP's have time to absorb the information provided they are more likely to be supportive. Good luck Pam in NC Pre-Op Wt 318 @ 5 ft. 5 MGB Surg.= 1/4/99 Lowest Wt.= 143 10/99 Reversal of MGB= 10/24 Current Wt= 165-175, Holding healthy and happy
