Hi a!

I'm really sorry to hear you have no energy...as of this moment, I know

what that feels like. It's really frustrating.

My longest water- only fast was 10 days. It was hard, but I think it

was very productive. Of course, I built up my fasting prowess by doing a

bunch of 3 day fasts first. I am mulling over doing another long term

fast currently, and the very reason is because I've regressed and have

very little energy the past few days. I found that by the 3rd day on

long term fasts, I have LOTS more energy! It's quite a strange outcome,

as you think you'd feel weak, but I felt like I could jump to the moon.

I felt much lighter and healthier. I still had weakness due to the

fasting itself, so I had to slow down and not push myself, but I did

feel alot better.

I recently did a fast for National Day of Prayer, and I had a monster

headache from it. I was planning on going several days, but I had a

liquid protein shake on Friday, and that must have been a mistake,

because I've regressed since then. I have flank pain and NO

ENERGY....this regression took us all by surprise, and I've basically

been in bed since Friday afternoon. ..a shock to my family as I've

always pushed myself to the limits and seemed to have tons of energy.

But, this lack of energy is the exact reason I want to do a fast....I

miss all the energy I used to have, and I know that when I fasted

previously, the fasting is what moved me off that plateauof making no

improvements in my healing. I read the book " Fasting and Eating for

Health " by Dr. Fuhrman, and the information in that book was highly

motivating to conduct a long term fast, as he talked about patients who

had lupus, rheumatoid arthritis and other autoimmune diseases that went

into remission.

I would not recommend doing coffee enemas during a water fast, as the

coffee enema will use up precious reserves of glutathione, and vitamin

and mineral stores that are needed as you curtail the intake of food.

The rule of thumb with coffee enemas is 3 juices (freshly extracted) for

each enema. And taking in juice on a water fast actually prevents your

body from going into the protein sparing state, which is not good...you

want it to do that, as it allows you to go long term and not consume

your own muscle tissue. So, if I were going to try to do coffee

enemas, I would only do a juice fast instead of a total fast. You may

have better detoxification efforts on a total fast, but a juice fast

will certainly be beneficial too. It just may not go as deep in tissue

cleansing as a total fast may.

Please let me know if you go on a fast. Read Dr. Fuhrman's book first.

Prepare yourself with a fasting plan of action. Know what to expect

ahead of time, (there will be some bumps in the road, like headaches),

and make sure you understand how to break a fast correctly. I believe

fasting is very crucial in some cases of toxicity, and I believe the

reason some women never get better is because they do not purge their

bodily tissues deeply enough to remove all toxicity.

This scorpion sting has been eye opening...the symptoms, the regression,

the immune system involvement...I have no idea what is going to happen

long term, but you can bet that my efforts will be geared toward getting

back to where I was before, and that means getting all that crap out of

me! Fasting may be the only way.

Best wishes,

Patty

Hi Patty,

Thanks for your reply.

I have read 2 books on fasting: The Miracle of Fasting by Bragg and also Fasting and Eating for Health by Fuhrman, M.D.

I do know I want to try a fast but I'm just not sure when I will do it. I need to have energy for work. That is the dilema. I have tried everything else and have reached a plateau in my healing process.

I am so sorry to hear of your regression with your health since the scorpion sting. Hopefully, this is just a temporary set back for you and that you will feel better very soon.

Love & Hugs,

a

a,

I would suggest starting on a Friday, (if you have the weekend off), as that way

you can have the benefits of the 3rd day clearance by Monday and go as long as

you feel you can.

You will have the weekend to deal with the headaches and any other negative side

effects, which should clear by the end of the 3rd day. That was my

experience...yours may be a little different, but you won't know until you give

it a try.

Do you have a doctor to supervise you?

Have you ever done any type of fasting before?

If not, I would suggest only go one day at a time, and build slowly.

And work with a doctor.

If you have fasted before, you will find your groove.

It is also helpful to join a group on fasting. I was part of one at one

time, and it was helpful to be able to talk to others who were well experienced

in fasting.

Wishing you much health and healing!

Hi Patty and all,

I have been off the boards for a while so excuse me if I am writing anything

here that has already been discussed. Also Patty, I am sorry you have had a

challenging experience recently but am very confident you will pull through this

and be back to your healthy self.

As I have mentioned in previous posts, I have MS or an MS-like condition for

about 2 and 1/2 years now. With natural health methods I have stabilized it and

gotten a little better, especially in recent months. It seems what has helped

the most has been greens only juicing with coffee enemas.

I was thinking of trying to do a water only fast to see what that does for my

body. I know of one woman who cured MS that way. She did also take cleansing

herbs while doing the fasting only (Dr. Schultz's Intestinal 1 and 2 Formulas).

I was just wondering if anyone has thoughts about whether those herbs should be

taken during a water only fast. The woman who healed that way felt it was

important to keep the colon moving and pull out the toxins during the fast.

Also, how does one know how much their body can take--how does one know when to

say this is a healing crisis and I will push through or that their body is

saying no you have to eat something or you are going to be in worse shape.

Thanks for any advice.

Hi ,

I am really happy to hear from you, and really excited to hear that

you've seen some improvements in recent months with the green juices and

coffee enemas. That's awesome! Keep going girl!

I think there is differing opinions from experts on how to best conduct

a fast for detoxification. The total fast, meaning water only, is

supposed to be the best for deep cleansing, and allow your body to go

into a protein sparing state, according to Dr. Fuhrman in his book

" Fasting and Eating for Health. " Herbs will need to be digested, so the

digestive system never really enters a full rest. I have no idea if you

end up using muscle tissue as food then or not.....but I can see why the

herbs make sense for pulling out toxins. That is the goal, so it seems

that they would be helpful. So, I dont' know. I'd love to read the book

by the woman who cured her MS with fasting. Is there a link?

I think the only way to know what will work for you is to try it

yourself and see how you feel, and you can even try both fasting types

to compare results. I have no doubt that both will be beneficial.

I can fully appreciate your question about how you can know whether you

are in a healing crisis and push through..... or to end the fast and get

some food in your body. The answer lies in medical supervision,

because your body will give you clues that can be measured by blood

test. In the absence of medical supervision, I think it's best to take

the safest route and end the fast if you feel unable to continue.

I continue to have experiences that are enlightening about health and

healing, and my recent fast was no exception, as I was in this exact

position. I have done so much fasting in the past that I thought I knew

what to expect, but this weekend was not normal for me. I needed to

break my fast...that was evident.....and to get some nutrition. So,

pay attention to your body, and when you are at the end of your energy

and feel totally spent, break the fast.

I think my envenomation really kicked my butt, and that was why I was

bedridden after fasting. I probably had just too many toxins coming

out...my kidneys were hurting, and I was pushing it too hard.

Is there any way you can be medically supervised? I would suggest that

for anyone doing a long term fast if you are inexperienced. I should

probably be medically supervised myself, and I've been fasting for

years. It really depends on how toxic you are, and how well you are

able to listen to your body.

As long as you have experienced people to talk to, I think you can

attempt it safely and help you understand the clues your body is giving

you as you fast.

Keep us posted! Thanks for writing!

Sending hugs and healing wishes!

Thanks Patty,

The woman who cured MS with fasting is Kopera. I think Perfect Health may

have told you about .

's website does not spell out her protocol, but she relayed to me that she

did a 37-day fast. The first week was freshly juiced greens veggie juice only

but that wasn't helping so she switched to water for the next 10 days, then she

was very depleted so she went back to greens juices only for the remainder of

the fast (the last 20 days) (in total it was 37 days including the juice and the

water parts). During that time she also took Dr. Schultz's intestinal cleanse

formulas 1 and 2 daily and did colonics and liver flushes weekly. She has now

been in total remission for about 4 years. If you google Kopera you can

find her site. I don't know it offhand.

As for me, the longest I have been able to fast (even doing greens juice only)

is 3 days at a time. Then I end up giving in to food--not because of a healing

crisis but just out of hunger pains and lack of discipline. I wish I could go

longer, as it does seem to help.

Hi ,

Yes, PH has told me about Kopera and her fasting therapy. It's

exciting to find someone who has successfully gone into remission with

MS!

A 37 day fast would be brutal!

The liver flushes while fasting intrigue me. Wow. I've never done

that.

I've been wanting to do a liver flush. We are going to the beach this

weekend, so it may be Sunday or Monday before I can start a flush, but I

think it may be necessary.

, the secret to successfully fasting is to recognize that it is a

mental test more than anything. It's physically challenging to be sure,

but mentally, you have to fight to win when it comes to the idea of

giving in. I think the hunger pains go away fairly quickly, at least

for me, so after that, it is the mental effort to stop thinking about

Big Mac's, Whopper's, Taco Bell, chocolate chip cookies and everything

else that rears up unexpectedly while fasting. I seriously got a

craving for every single fast food item I've ever had while on a 10 day

fast! The way I got through it was to remind myself that " the food

will always be there. It doesn't go away...it's available

anytime...just NOT TODAY. I have more important things to accomplish

TODAY, beyond food. "

That seems to get my mind off the food and on to the more important

goals I have in mind.

I hope that might help you out with your efforts. It's definitely a

challenge that few have experienced!

Do you have anyone to support you through a fast? A doctor or friend

who knows about them?

Have you looked at any fasting websites that share tips and helpful

hints to get through one?

There used to be a Fasting group on , not sure if it is

still there, but they are a source of friends to chat with during a

fasting effort. Just one more idea.

It is hard to get through a fast, no doubt. You can do it. Sometimes

you just have to go slowly and work your way up to a longer fast each

time. I think when I started with a naturopath, he put me on a schedule

that would go on an increasingly longer fast over a period of time,

starting with a three day fast, and then eventually going on a 21 day

fast and longer. So, don't despair if you can't get as far as you want

the first time. Just give it another go.

Wishing you wellness!

Hi Patty,

I really can't afford a medical supervised fast at present. I do research and

have Kopera to ask questions to...One thing I was wondering from you is

that I know you recommend 3 juices per coffee enema....Should one drink one

juice before and two after, or should all three juices be drank after the enema,

or does it not matter? Also, can the juices include fruit juices?

I have been revisiting in my mind why I seemed to be improving a few months ago

and now have hit a plateau again. I feel that I haven't been juicing enough

along with the enemas.

Thanks,

Hi, , if you need any help, like medical guidance or something, don't hesitate to email me. According to my practise, I only recommend two types of cleansing protocols, one is the protocol for acne-removal (which is in essence, the same principle since most acne are caused by toxins in our body or by bacterial infection also from a weakened immune system by the toxins), my patients have had great success. This fasting is done using regular household or items found in the grocery, it's been used by the Greeks for ages.Another cleansing diet is the liver flush, or the gallstone removal fasting. At first I was skeptical about this until my own father was diagnosed with hydrops and multiple gallstones which were causing liver congestion already. I had three colleagues take a look at the tests including

the ultrasound. One was an internist, another one was a general surgeon, and another was a gastroenterologist. The IM and the GS both suggested gallbladder removal ASAP, while the gastro suggested ERCP first, then endoscopic gallbladder removal. At first, I was hesitant, since we never had any surgeries in our family, but of course, was agreeing with my colleagues opinions, till my dad and I recalled a liver-cleansing / gallstone removal protocal which was shared to us.I got everything ready for the surgery, but my father told me that he wants to try the natural way first (as he implied, it's him who would undergo the procedure and not us, so he just wanted a less invasive procedure first).Lo and behold, it did work, and his case, we did a documentation of his symptoms before and after and even got pictures of the gallstones that he passed out without surgery.Anyway, should

you be interested, do tell me...Regarding the Total Fast, I really don't recommend that, particularly for the reason that it does work during the first few days, but there is such a thing as what we dubbed as the "famine state" where body slows down everything, thinking that it should conserve energy and partially shuts down your metabolism. We have some weight loss patients who request that we allow them to go into a Total Fast, but we do not really recommend that.Okay, , that's my opinion regarding fasting, still do listen to the responses of other people and weigh the advantages and disadvantages.- From: trekkie323

Hi ,

Great job on listening to your body...and I'm glad you have seen some

improvements. I hit that plateau in my healing a couple of years after explant,

and fasting is what moved me off that plateau.

It doesn't really matter when you get those juices, just as long as you are

getting them to replace the minerals and vitamins that your body needs with the

enemas.

The juices should not be primarily fruit juices, due to the sugar content,

although you will get some minerals and vitamins. Vegetable juices are

preferred. Having said that, a great combination that I often use is the

carrot/apple, which tends to be higher in fructose. But it is used on the

Gerson therapy, so if you can't get in the required number of green juices (and

I really did have trouble with the green juices), this carrot/apple combination

is the next best thing. I often throw in spinach or celery as well.

Best wishes and keep up the great work!

Hey Dr. Tan,

I just wanted to mention that I love this testimony about the liver

flush working for your father! That's awesome!

Did he use epsom salts followed by olive oil/grapefruit juice?

How is your father now? Has he done any more liver flushes?

May I ask, how old is your father?

I'm so glad it was all documented by yourself and your colleagues. Just

shows that this is a legitimate form of therapy, rather than gallbladder

surgery. My own father had the surgery, and he struggles with diabetes.

Thanks again,

Patty

Hey Dr. Tan,

I just wanted to mention that I love this testimony about the liver

flush working for your father! That's awesome!

Did he use epsom salts followed by olive oil/grapefruit juice?- Yes, he started with the epsom salt for bowel cleansing, then olive oil, then fresh lemon juice.

How is your father now?  - He's fine, as if nothing happened. He was advised to have the surgery ASAP after the Hydrops was noted, but after the liver flush, he's back to his good health.Has he done any more liver flushes?

May I ask, how old is your father?

- he s 58 years old.

I'm so glad it was all documented by yourself and your colleagues. Just

shows that this is a legitimate form of therapy, rather than gallbladder

surgery.  - yes, but I have to admit, I was, being a medical doctor, a little skeptical at first, but I had to allow my father, because, as he said, I'm not the one who will undergo the surgery. Also, the gallbladder has a very important function in the regulation of bile, cholesterol level, and more, so removing it, from someone who hasn't tried the liver flush, is just a big mistake.I had a deal with my father that should the flush wouldn't work, I will be admitting him the next day for the surgery. I'm glad I was wrong with my skepticism. =)My own father had the surgery, and he struggles with diabetes.

Thanks again,

Patty- has anyone tried the apple diet for treating acne and other skin diseases related with biotoxins?
