Guest guest
Get Trader Joe's all-natural, creamy salted peanut butter if you can. After you eat it, you will never go back to Jif or Peanut Pan. It tastes like peanut butter should taste - just peanuts and oil. I keep it in the frig after I mix it so it will stay mixed. Guest guest
I've been reluctant to give my daughter peanut butter - she doesn't seem to digest nut goodies so well and for some reason I was afraid of peanut butter - maybe because I've heard folks talk about inherent mold. When I offered her goodies made with it months ago, she'd eat them for a day or two and then reject them. I guessed that it was because they didn't sit well with her. Can anyone tell me what the skinny is on peanut butter and if I should try again? She's been on SCD for 11 months now, and I need her to eat a greater variety of filling snacks - she's hungry all the time. She currently eats very small quantities of crackers or cookies made with ground almonds, hazelnuts or cashews, but since we're rotating, I need a nut for the 4th day. Thoughts? Thanks! Guest guest
Peanut butter works well with my kids and since their is no skin of the nut, as in almond butter, I think they digest it better. We avoided all peanut products for years and my kids do well with it now. -Suzanne mama2gandj no_reply > wrote: I've been reluctant to give my daughter peanut butter - she doesn't seem to digest nut goodies so well and for some reason I was afraid of peanut butter - maybe because I've heard folks talk about inherent mold. Guest guest
Peanuts are pretty heavy on the stomach, cashew butter is a very light. How about macadamia nuts, brazilian nuts, pecan nuts, coconut? Good Luck! mama2gandj no_reply > wrote: I've been reluctant to give my daughter peanut butter - she doesn't seem to digest nut goodies so well and for some reason I was afraid of peanut butter - maybe because I've heard folks talk about inherent mold. Thoughts? " Cindy, How about pecans or walnuts? Peanuts aren't nuts, they are a legume. But if you want to re-try peanuts, try getting Maranatha Organic Peanut Butter. It doesn't have the mold issue (aflotoxin) that other peanut butters have. Jody mom to -6 and -9 SCD 32 months
Guest guest
I don't know why, but she couldn't handle a macadamia-banana muffin I made for her a while back - it made her instantly whiny and teary. She'd tried pecan brownies before and didn't tolerate them well - I don't remember if they just made her cranky, if they caused loose stools or what. I could look back in my journal... but all that was before she started taking enzymes. Do you think it's worth retrying these things now that we're using enzymes? Thanks!
